And you think shadows are a core issue of the game? You think the crafting system isn't a core problem but you think shadows are? You think fixing all the transportation issues isn't a core problem but you think shadows are? lol, that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard all day.

The events have a positive effect on the community, a much greater effect than shadows would. People are already bored with the normal content, events give them little bits of things to do here and there. The more we have to do, the better even if it's for a few weeks.

Honestly before we even worry about shadows at all they need to fix the game's optimization problems. The game makes a lot of computers work a lot harder than they should rightfully have to. This is a bigger problem than shadows and in all likelihood a completely related one.

At this point I'm not sure if the OP is a troll but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here.

Yes, I think that modernizing and optimizing the graphics engine is a core issue.
I also think that fixing the absurd lag in the game is a core issue.
I also think that not being able to kick someone from a LS unless they are standing next to you is a core issue.
I also think that not being able to change party leader if someone is out of range is a core issue.

I could rattle on about what I think are the core issues, but the end result would just be a obvious troll is troll comment from 100 other trolls.

The point is you cannot roof a house, without first building the foundation, the walls, and so on.

What it seems to me is happening here is we are getting a roof, without fixing the sinking foundation.

Its the LITTLE things that drive people crazy. A summer event is a distraction. It doesn't resolve the overall frustration derived from smaller things like just trying to use the interface, or use the market wards, or use the ls.

My point of this thread was - IF you are going to continue wasting time on things that aren't solving the REAL issues, the ones that cause people to rage quit, then would you please fix the graphics =)

Except those aren't the issues you touched on in your OP. Those are actually also all more important than the graphics. Come to think of it, graphics are honestly pretty much at the bottom of the priority list. The game looks gorgeous already without everything having shadows. Maybe I'm just biased because I can enjoy graphics from any style or gaming generation and take them for what they are. To me, FFXIV is more than pretty enough in the graphics department.

I agree with some things, but I would consider shadows part of the "roofing", not the foundation. They are working on the foundation right now, which is transportation and reworking the system.

Actually, if you're going to use the house metaphor it's more like...

We've got this house we've been living in for a year now. We bought it knowing there was a crack in the foundation but figured that we were able to by for less than asking price so we did. It's a bit run down but it's nothing that can't be fixed. We definitely should get on that foundation soon before an earthquake hits but I'm not going to tear down my wallpaper, paintings, family photos and framework so I can fix the crack in the foundation. Not to mention we've already called the masons and they say that can't fix it until better weather conditions arrive. My interior decorator has already done so much with the rest of the house and it's still livable. I don't need to stay with my mother-in-law who lives two and a half hours away from my work just to wait on the masons.

I'm definitely not going to assume that the crack in my driveway (shadow effects) actually is a threat to the structural integrity of my home.
