    Nowadays, DRG is more interesting for BRD and MCH already, WAR helps NIN DPS, etc...

    Not a problem for you, but I main a healer xD. If a PLD was viable as a healer it would neglect 3 jobs. Why take a healer when a tank can do it and has more survivability?

    Making PLD a viable healing replacement takes the role out of role playing game. Why not make WHM viable tanks while we're at it lol?

    Na, PLD dosn't need any major adjustment DPS wise could be but don't forget the PLD is about beining a defense Job and it's main focus should be that.

    Because the PT will still need one healer. A PLD won't be able to cure status ailment, or AoE heal, or even Raise in battle.

    I really doubt tanks were "neglected" when "solo tank" strategies arose, or when the Duty Finder for ST and WoD reduce the number of tanks by one.

    Lorewise, PLD is more of a "protect" job. That's why it could be interesting to adjust it so it can protect others efficiently when off-tanking.

    Nevermind this discussion, PLD getting more usable Clemencies and potentially better Divine Veil will at best make healing a bit easier for the healers, it'd need to be absolutely overpowered to be able to replace a WHM, SCH, or even an AST in terms of healing.

    Agreed back to the discussion at hand, buffing PLD to the point where it can take a healer spot is crazy.

    I want to tackle divine veil for a sec. I would assume SE requires healing to activate the effect so that the healing role retains the responsibility. To me, this is smart design. For example, say a SCH falls a bit behind and has time to cast one more spell before raid dmg hits. Instead of just casting succor, they trigger DV.

    ^ this great functionality. PLD supports the group, but instead of stepping on healer's toes, it actually enhances the experience of the healing role by giving them more to take into consideration. You gotta give SE respect for that implementation. Very nice.

    if it were to be buffed, I could see possibly increasing the window of time to trigger the effect or maybe increasing the radius.

    As a Warrior main who also plays Dark Knight and Paladin, there are a couple of fixes that Paladin could use. One, lower the stupidly long CD on Divine Veil. It's a very powerful cooldown that fits into the Paladin role of preventing damage. Even a reduction to 90 seconds instead of 150 would allow them to have it up for their party when they need it, rather than a couple times a fight. Two, cut the cast time, and MP cost of Clemency in half. It's a Paladin. In Final Fantasy history, it has always had access to healing spells. Yes, they were nowhere near as effective as an actual White Mage, but if you needed an emergency heal, you could drop a decent heal with their small MP pool. Recreate that here. Give us the ability to toss out some heals on party members. We already have Cover, and Stoneskin. Make Paladin truly what it should be. A wall not only for itself, but for it's allies. Someone that could assist their healers in times of crisis, and save party members from dying. It would give OT PLDs something to really stand apart from the other tanks.

    Did you really miss all those videos of solo tanking content ?

    In fact, SMN can already tank some content with Titan, so you have a DPS that can take a tank spot. And SCH (or even WHM) can DPS not that bad.
    So, a tank that can support heal, a DPS that can support tank and a heal that can support DPS.

    You mean when ppl do lvl 50 content on lvl 60 toons unsynced lol?

    If that is the standard, PLD doesn't need changed because it can heal most of that stuff now without any changes. And trust me... you already heal better than titan tanks.

    Also, PLD contributes to dps too, so we would either need to take away all of your dps, or let healers off-tank... then of course dps would be the only toons who couldnt do all three roles, so they should be able to heal, tank, and dps... smh

    No. Let's keep separate roles. You want a class that can do everything so you'll never be content with balance. If you want a healer spot, play a healer.
