My guess, people just turn their brains off (if they have one to begin with) and expect to be carried through. This type of mentality makes no sense to me as all it does is cause the run to take longer.
I am so tired of dealing with all those kinds of people. SCH's are the worst. Had one that other day in Neverreap and they flat out REFUSED to do any dps when I asked them to so we could clear the dungeon faster. They barely healed me. Fairy did all the work. Only time they ever worked was when I decided to make them work and pulled all the mobs I could. They might as well of just right clicked and followed the ranged dps since they were useless anyway. I complained about it back in town and everyone tried to take a swing at me cause I expect healer with full MP to attack when I'm in no danger what so ever. I seriously think the people in towns are all idiots that just stand around all day.

Another fun group of people are BLM that aoe with only 2 mobs and NIN/SMN/SCH that refuse to lay down their aoe's in mobs of 4-5. One time a NIN told me no cause using it on a mob of 5 was "a loss of dps". I also like the DPS that completely hits the wronged numbered enemy and when I call them out on it, they claim it was an accident. 3-4 times is an accident......right? I seriously wonder how these people go through every day life. Just needed to rant a little.

Can you imagine what would happen if we tanks were as lazy as the other classes?

Really depends on the context. If I see a DPS doing poorly or a healer with full MP not attacking when I'm in zero danger, I will give them advice. 9/10 they get pissy with me for telling how to do their class/job and want to start shit with me or don't say a damn word and don't listen to a thing I say. A lot of people hold themselves back. It's not because of other players. It's because they wanna get carried and not "git gud" like they should.

Yeah but have you guys encountered tanks asking SMN not to DoT/Bane because they keep losing aggro on other mobs?

Healers refuse to dps whilst on full MP.
    DPS acting as a tank.

There are no bad jobs. Only lazy bad players.

honestly its at least somewhat understandable if a WHM is not DPSing even when at full mp (anyone remember WHM mp problems before HW?)

I have tanked that darn dungeon so many times, and run it as DPS several more, and I've only seen ONE Gaelikitten drop. My buddy tank got it and gave it to his girlfriend so I can't even begrudge him his luck. :P

I will keep grinding that dungeon until kitten is achieved...

But yeah, I've had several nightmare stories. I haven't had too much trouble maintaining aggro (WAR), but I have to be mindful. I only occasionally mark priority targets and those have been getting ignored, except for Chyme of the Mountain. I've had some dumb wipes because comets got placed in weird positions. And when I was dps running it with my whm friend, the tank told us to ignore mechanics and burn on the first boss. My healer argued with her. The tank got super shirty and said ALL the adds and mechanics could be ignored in the dungeon, which was flat out stupid to say.

At this point because of the grind it's probably my least favorite. Not looking forward to tanking it with PLD.

lol, I actually did a late night Neverreap yesterday while I was tired and sleepy to get my last 35 esoterics. So I decided to be a lazy DRK.

Funny thing is, I almost never get a good group on DF, but last night, I got a DRG that was pulling 1000+ on bosses, a BLM that actually AoEd and a SCH that actually threw massive DPS. On bosses, I lost aggro a couple of times (once on each first and second bosses). In mass pulls I died because I was too lazy to properly rotate CDs (popped Dark Dance without DA) and ate AoEs lol. My DPS in AoE was 400ish. On bosses was 600ish. I never knew I could play so bad haha.

Anyways, it was a DISASTER of proportional levels. I'm never playing a tank if I'm that tired.

This is why I sorta-kinda abandoned my DRK to level some DPS and healers instead.

Everyone's a goddamned critic when it comes to tanking. If I tank the boss over there, someone gets mad and says I'm the worst tank ever and I should tank it over here. If I tank it over here, the next run someone will get mad and say I should be tanking it over there. :P

Move out of a red zone and some monk throws a hissy fit because his Dragonboot Shinekick had 10 less potency or something because the mob turned. Pull some mobs and get yelled at because if we had snuck over that rock and under the tree and up the hill we could have skipped it and saved 15 seconds, but skip a mob later and get yelled at because the Bard in the group really wants XP.

Every little thing is a point of contention with some people when you're tanking.

No man, don't be like that. You're the tank, you're the boss! You dictate how the runs go. You're REALLY the king of the run.

You are the backbone of the group and have the heavy responsibility of literally being the whole party's life bar. You die, everyone dies.

The DPS don't like where you position? Tell them to adapt. As long as you don't have the mob facing the party and that the party CAN get behind it, you're doing it RIGHT! If the MNK/DRK/NIN aren't happy they missed a positional, tell them to man up and eat the potency loss. It's better than you dying and them right after. Oh, and when the mob is facing them because you died, they will miss ALL of their positionals.

If you pulled something you could've skipped? Just apologize and tell them you won't do it next time. Not all of us know what to do the first few times we run an instance.

If some DPS decides to be a douche and tell you what to do for the sake of bossing you, just tell them to either shut up or leave the instance. Not only they eat a 30 minute penalty, but they also have to spend ANOTHER 40 minutes waiting on queue while you get instant queue. If they want to be so bossy they can man up and play a tank.

I'm not saying be a jerk. Just don't let those jerks deter you from playing what you enjoy. Also sorry for the language.

Seemed like perfectly reasonable language to me!

But yeah, you're right. It's just that some days I'm not in the mood for it, is all.

Not quite, no. Haven't had any mp issues since err...2 years ? with the only exception for the day WoD was released.
