It's the fact people don't wanna spend a day of their life trying to clear content with people that can't even play their class. I had some rough BEX attempts before I cleared it where dps were just falling off, Drg LB3 an add, Nin doing less dps then tanks. It all adds up I just wish that people would learn their class and strive to be the most optimal dps their class can push. Few days ago had an Ast that killed themselves to get carried..we cleared it with 7/8 he said "I can't dps and heal so just replace me" on our 4th try. Just fell off..and got the clear was rough as hell and now i'm never doing BEX unless it's my FC, /end rant.

You can get reported for it.
I don't think kicking and replacing a problem player is cutthroat at all. If one person is Doin It Wrong™ and keeping the other seven people from achieving their shared goal (whether that be learning, clearing, or farming), then clearly either something has to give or you simply disband the party and start over. I'm all for teaching people content, but some people don't want to be taught. In order to learn to do it right first you have to admit that you were doing it wrong in the first place and there are plenty of people out there that have a serious problem with that. When you've wiped several times to the same thing despite telling someone how to do it correctly, you have to ask yourself if you think they're going to improve. Why would I bash my head against the encounter with a team that can't do the job when I could replace one person and have a team that can do it?

As far as kicking from DF goes, GM's have said in the past that a difference in playstyle is a legitimate reason to remove someone from a duty. If someone's "playstyle" is "I don't care about DPS, don't tell me how to play my class," the other seven people are perfectly within their right to vote kick if they feel that person is holding the rest of them back from completing the duty. The kicked person can report all they like but unless there was some other kind of abuse (cursing them out before kicking them, etc) I don't see how anything can really be done about it.

Roll up & down, double your damage. The keyboard is shorter that way, more rolls per second! :3

I don't think people don't want to be taught, I just think "OMG WTF, you suck! This is EASY" doesn't count as teaching.

Why would anyone want to do anything else
I mean I have the most fun when I see how im soo far ahead of the other dps in the aggro list, and trying to keep up, not doing one single mistake is really fun.
The times I get another dps that I can see does really well, I get really competitive and step up my game.

While I can see the negative effect of a parser in game, like people would complain and kick players that dont do well. I'd still love to have one, because I think more people would try their best to beat the other dps in damage.

The only reason we even have damage checks is because they built a game completely around pattern memorization and developers currently trend towards having the patterns on both the bosses and our own attack sequences. I think life would be a lot less complicated if we could hark back to the olden days and take a page from something like the old Megaman series, which prized itself on memorizing the bosses pattern and didn't worry too much about the players damage. We don't really need the damage checks since healers only have a finite amount of MP, so the timer is really how long can we keep the hose going with heals until the end.

Well, that and we can actually add some variety to our abilities besides "This attack adds debuff and does damage, this other attack does more damage" and so on. Maybe give blue mage a reason to exist.

Just do a DPS balls-to-the-wall check on carapace. If you can't as a party break it in ONE attempt, you are lacking the DPS to win,, end of story.

When I say that I don't mind teaching people content, I actually mean teaching. My static spent our Saturday nights leading up to Heavensward putting up learning parties for any encounter in the game outside of Savage SCoB. We have been known to jump into random learning parties just to help. When we get a new person in DF, we ask who's new and then tell them the job-specific mechanics for the encounter. When I say teach, I mean teach.

What you mentioned isn't anything even remotely close to teaching. It's destructive and confrontational.

What i like to say is
" you have to play like u want to clear, none of this getting carried bs." Or its the " have fun being stuck in bis ex , gl "
Even though I DONT PLAY DPS, i try my best to explain better ways of approaching things
    I.e
P1 = bunch adds together at the edge so that dps wont have to move far for the 2nd add and will be able to get on to the back much faster.

P2= apply dots and hit the right colour adds

P3 = i call out weather and explain what to do on a summarized macro so dps can take a quick glance and know what to do = higher chance of dps doing more dmg as they know what mechanic is next and will be able to position themselves.
Ofc i do all that while soloing generator and Dks on all phases.
Dps just needs to step uppppp

Because the forums say that you must put out this exact magical number or you arent good enough, period. GTFO my party.
never mind that that magical number was achieved under a specific set of circumstances, using the very best available gear, party composition and the most perfect rotation that ever did rotate.

DPS isn't everything. The average user of a damage meter looks at the lowest person on the list and rants at them or outright kicks them. That's going to be every Bard and MCH ever, since those Jobs aren't designed to push maximum DPS, nor will fight mechanics be taken into consideration.
Monk on anything that causes you to lose GL3 frequently? /kick.
Black Mage on anything that interrupts Enochian? /kick.
    etc etc.

Theres enough "you need to perform this magical number or you can't do this content" already without having a built in signboard ramming pretty numbers down our eye sockets with no regard to circumstance.
