I think we're lacking Au'ra villains more than anything else D:

She barely counts as an NPC... I don't recall that she even had a name. She existed solely to get killed (by the player, as it happens). In feminism circles, they call that "fridging."
On the other hand, there's a whole questline (though I don't remember where to pick it up) about a Miqo'te girl who is looking for her sister, who took the bandit path. It's not a bad bit of character exploration, looking at people's post-Calamity choices. I definitely wanted to kill the son-of-a-cur the sister had hooked up with!
I guess they're just one of those races that the devs think of as inherently spritely and optimistic. Sucks for people who might have picked it out of edginess. The Au Ra have taken that spot but their appearances still seem token and one dimensional. They rarely appear and they're even more rarely NOT a badass fighting for the good side.
I really can't see Sid as morally pure as you think you are...
Isn't the 50-60 WHM questline antagonist an Au Ra seeking some sort of revenge, and poisoning the land in the process? Haven't done the quests yet, but I've heard something about having to heal zombie dragons that she's raised in Morn to kill them, and Benediction trolling. And I don't know if I'd say Sid is fighting for the "good" overall, since he was fighting for personal vengeance (and still kinda is)
Besides those two, I can only think of two other important Au Ra in the story so far...Yugiri and
Mide, the Xaela from the Alexander story
I'm not counting the one who only exists to upgrade your Law gear, who might as well be random upgrade vendor #245

That is the Mail Moogle quest, and it involves the Couerl Claw King.On the other hand, there's a whole questline (though I don't remember where to pick it up) about a Miqo'te girl who is looking for her sister, who took the bandit path. There's also an Auri ninja clan princess in the 50+ Ninja quests, but she's not an antagonist. I think she also had a male Au Ra bodyguard with her.
There is a sad lack of interaction with non hostile keepers.
