I will write out my thought process of the rotation I've been using so people can try to make any improvements if they see one. First off, I did not want to bother with the range of rarity that Instinctual Appraisal gives, so I based my rotation around using only Impulsive and Methodical. Second, when using those two appraisals, I need to include a Single Mind once due to having to appraisal 4 times and also include 2 Utmost Caution to avoid getting too much wear. Lastly, the rotation depends on having 600 gp, and the needed perception for max rarity on level 60, in order for Impulsive Appraisal to hit for 103, and Discerning Eye + Methodical Appraisal to hit for 172. Which is critical, since 103+103+172+172 exactly equals 550. The rotation involves fishing for Impulsive Appraisal procs for at least one discerning eye over two attempts.
Rotation goes:
If first Impulsive Appraisal procs -> SM/UC/Methodical on 2nd step, followed by another Impulsive Appraisal. If it procs, the last step should be SM/UC/Methodical, but if it doesn't it should be DE/UC/Methodical. There's a chance to gather two if both impulsive appraisal on the first and third steps proc, but most of the time you'll just get one.
If first Impulsive Appraisal doesn't proc, but the 2nd one does -> SM/UC/Methodical on third step, DE/UC/Methodical on the last step. No opportunity to fish for more procs, only able to gather one.
If both Impulsive Appraisal does not proc, either collect 2 items at 1/8 purity or collect 1 item at 2/8 purity depending on your crystal and cluster needs. No wasted GP though, so just cycle through the nodes to spawn ephemeral again.
TL;DR where Imp(y) means it procced and Imp(n) means it did not proc:
Imp(y) -> SM/UC/Meth -> Imp(y) -> SM/UC/Meth (2 gathers)
Imp(y) -> SM/UC/Meth -> Imp(n) -> DE/UC/Meth
Imp(n) -> Imp(y) -> SM/UC/Meth -> DE/UC/Meth
Imp(n) -> Imp(n) -> Failed, abort and try again. No wasted GP
