Seriously, I mentioned this in that Rep responded thread.
1. Gear will become Rank Locked over time and through Attrition. Optimal Rank gear will eventually completely disappear except to a few rare holdouts who hoard it. If it doesn't get removed from the databases all together in the future as well.
2. Materia will remove inventory from the Database as well because you will be turning it into Materia.
3. Equipment Damage only really hurts people wearing gear under optimal rank. and as deterring Zombie Rushing or Scaring people from dieing (Which it doesn't do that good a job of anyway.
With all 1 and 2 coming, There really is no reason to keep the Repair system to fulfill 3.
Instead, Implement a System where any Spirit Bond you have earned towards turning an item into Materia becomes damaged if you Die. And ONLY if you die.
Also make it so it is not restored if you are Raised.
This will deter people way more from Zombierushing and Fighting Harder to not die Then the current Repair System would.
