I highly doubt that the cap will ever be removed. Hell, they didn't even remove the poetics cap even when Heavensward was just a month away. They made the cap like 1000 or something which is stupid imo as we all know IW gear would be near useless for Heavensward anyways except for the first few levels of your level 50 job.
I don't mind the cap. I mean, there are busy people out there who can't play everyday or for long periods of time for most of the week. The set amount allows them to work toward some end-game gear without feeling left behind.
I do, however, think the price for Esoterics gear should be the same as Law gear. Not because I think we should be able to have it faster, but because each class has their own armor set (excluding belts and accessories). With 13 jobs in the game now, that is a very long time to get all of those sets. I remember when Myth was the highest tomb and I wanted quite a few of the i90 sets and I didn't get about half of them until they uncapped the weekly when Sol came out.
To close the gear gap, there are people in my FC/LS that are unable to hit the esoteric cap already
As long SE market this as a themepark casual MMO, the cap is needed to prevent people that can grind everyday (and also burning themselves out) from gearing way beyond what the people that play less can catch up. You see them handing out alot of free gear already in the story line/job quest line that did not award gear before to make it easier to catch up.
And lawlz, if you think some people wont grind like crazy, people already hitting 60 on new classes before early access even ended for HW
You want the truth of the matter? Weekly cap means that next week, you will repeat the process, and the next week after, and the week after that. This keeps people subbed to the game which is how SE makes money. Say what you will, when it comes down to it, it's all about paying the bills.
It's good because it keeps people playing from both ends of the spectrum. Many here have admitted that without the cap they would grind out their gear as quickly as possible, potentially then unsubbing once there was nothing left to do. This is probably the more significant reason.
For me (and probably other people like me) the cap motivates me to bother. I feel like I need to get at least 450 tomes per week (not currently though since my play time has been so little lately that I'm only 58 on my highest class currently). If it were uncapped I'd just say, eh, I'd rather not run this or that right now and I can always make up for it later, probably getting a measly 200 tomes weekly. I would probably work on just about anything else while thinking that next week I'll just run a ton of dungeons for tomes to make up for putting it off.
Probably seems odd, but I definitely accrue more tomes with a cap in place than without.
This, but i feel it in a bad mode, like its a work do the cap because if the week pass, you just loss them and cant obtain back another day when you have time or you want to do it.For me (and probably other people like me) the cap motivates me to bother. I know my english its bad, don't bully me T_T.
In my opinion it is a good thing. As I already stated in other thread people like me would get full set in 1 day farming some short duty and then we would request from everyone to have full esoterics cap (for savage alex). People who like to take their time would feel stressed and wouldn't enjoy the game so much.
Also the only reason why people have not cleared A3 and A4 is the gear check that is there. If they could get i200 in one day, they would also clear Alex savage in one day and leave the game.
The cap is here to keep people coming weekly and to keep the game alive. It also keeps the well-geared and skilled players repeating roulettes > helping others.
Removal of cap would greatly harm the game in my opinion.
I don't think that poll went how you thought it would.
Thank you for reinforcing the fact that the cap is a good thing in SqEnix's eyes![]()
Most of us are just used to it because it's always been this way.
For me I had to deal with this since Mythology tomes (which don't even exist right now), so I am definitely used to it myself.
Some people in the legacy servers have been dealing with this since before Mythology tomes existed and Philosophy tomes were the only ones and they actually had a cap too.
And trust me when I tell you people were complaining, even back then.
And by the way, the cap used to be as low as just 300 per week. So waiting 3 weeks for just 1 single item (looking at you, Esoteric weapon!) isn't anything new to us.![]()
