The weekly cap is simply for lazy devs that really don't have anything else in game AND to keep subs. There is really no real legit reason for a tome system other than to slow down progression to keep you coming back. But if there was more than one set to aim for it wouldn't really matter. I've also noticed that most people that like the cap are people that are extremely worried about what someone else is doing. If someone can/wants to grind out gear all day. Why does it really matter? It doesn't.

I would like the cap to be removed, but I can see why it's there.

Tbh, if it was removed it'd probably take me even longer to get Eso gear, because I wouldn't have the pressure of being locked out of progression to get me moving.

This is a sub game , they will try keep you engaged to the game , a cap is a way to do that. Why would you keep paying if there is nothing more to do ...

I like cap, my static farms Alexander normal for specific drop, and it sucks when we have run same turn over and over.
Can you imagine no cap and rng force down our throats with very low item drop rate AND the extra rng of getting specific. Drops.

Welcome to gear progression MMOs. If they didn't have a cap, then people would subscribe for a month, get all their crap, then unsub until the next content update. Not good for business.

So what SE does is cap it until the next content update, then remove the cap and add a new token and gear. Unless of course you'd rather that Gear was completely RNG and the chances of getting what you want are like 1%. That's what a lot of other MMOs do.

The interesting thing is the gimme, gimme, gimme attitude, especially when the gear is essentially useless to 90% of the people whining. The vast majority don't even do raids and just want it for the sake of wanting it.

You should be thankful you came later. The weekly cap used to be 300 tokens. 450 is a good compromise.

This, just look at red scrips, because there are no incentives like esoteric expert roulette runs, people spam it til they complete it. Have road blocks is good to an extent but there are certain balancing acts to consider and when it comes to the red caps there are a bit of issues cause unlike esoteric there is only one bottleneck route to take to progress.

This has been the system since the game came out almost 2 years ago. It's worked for 2 years, why change it now?

The problem with the cap its not for us, who already start cap them. We are even, the problem its for the people behind us. With cap its impossible for them to reach us if both still cap weekly. Maybe they start 1 week, 2 week or even 4 weeks back.Yeah, they should Reach us for the main job someday, but you still can get more Eso than them.

Without the cap if they play more to reach to us im ok with that, they deserve it.

It's both good and bad because people are different. Here's a few arguments that are all valid:
    1. It keeps the gear gap small; i.e. I don't want to fall behind but I can't play that much.
    2. It removes pressure from casuals; i.e. I'm a casual but I want hard-core equivalent progression.
    3. It just keeps widening the gap; i.e. My times are irregular and sometimes I play 40 hours a week sometimes 5 hours only.
    4. It's just to keep people subbing; i.e. I have the time to play. What, you jealous? Even without the cap I will still run out of things to do anyway.
    5. It keeps people from burning out; i.e. I can't control my impulses and I'll grind until I burn out if there isn't a cap.
    6. Just progress at your own pace, cap or not; i.e. I can't answer a question straight and always have to pretend I look at things from a higher perspective. I'm the superior by-stander.

It's good and it's bad, depending on what you want the ecosystem to be. We all aim for different things in the game and the cap will mean different things to us.
