You really think everyone is going to let Arenanet pull the wool over their eyes again? GW2 was just one huge collection of promised lies that didn't pan out well for the liars.

Funny, one of the main reasons I left GW2 was because it was hyper-focused on cosmetics and had no substantial endgame content.

We'll see what the lore gives us on this, but personally i think such a split choice for the player would be huge.

Really GW2?... I hated that game cause of all the broken promises before that game came out.. Yes I loved the customization but it's stopped there...

They have way more to fix before customization even though Id love some changes

If SE wants to get more subscribers perhaps it would be better to not discourage them from signing up during the free trial. I was running around with a friend who was trying the game out and he kept rattling off the RMT tells he was getting. Someone who despises RMT isn't likely to stick around when the advertising is so blatant.

People stick around in a game for various reasons. Some care about cosmetics, some don't. Some care about raids, some don't. Some enjoy leveling slowly, some don't. I don't think anyone loves RMT ads.

Its a far more customizable game (Along with TERA, WoW, and BnS) than FFXIV is . . .

WoW? Lol no. WoW has no dyes, you can't choose your eye color or shape or eyebrows or mouth or body type, etc. In fact there are no sliders at all. And yet of all the games you mentioned including this one, it has the most subs. Character aesthetics only take a game so far.

The number one reason new players give for not sticking with FFXIV is the GCD and slow game play, and I'm not sure anyone at Square Enix is in a hurry to change that. I am pretty sure they're not concerning themselves with overtaking the MMO monster that is WoW because they could easily have done so. I think they're more concerned with making the best FF game they can and staying true to the franchise.

Cosmetics are what F2P and B2P games need to keep generating revenue to stay alive. If you hadn't noticed thats ALL GW2 does. They ignore core gamers and PvP players because those do not generate any money for them. WvW gets ZERO attention and after the new expansion is will get its update and be 100% ignored AGAIN for 2 years.

To try and pass GW2 off as a means for FFXIV to make more money is a joke. No one I know that played GW2 at release played it for more than 2-3 months because everyone who is serious about playing an MMO quickly realized that GW2 still to this day has absolutly no reliable End Game or progression.

Getting your Orange Set took a few days and spending the extra time after that was cosmetic. The Orange set you could craft had the same stats as the dungeon sets and grinding dungeons in GW2 was AWFUL because their idea of fun was making everyone a DPS and zerging a room again and again until you cleared it because the game had no mechanics at all so people exploited them.

FFXIV is making a lot of money and it keeps growing at a fast pace. Isn't it funny that every other new sub based MMO has failed and gone F2P while FFXIV continues to grow and succeed? SE is doing something right and its the content and gear progression updates they have dished out every 3-4 Months for 2 years as part of your sub.

Other Devs want you to run and gear up alts instead which most people have no interest in. SE's method is keep people playing their mains if thats all they want to do. Here I am 2 years later and still playing and I have only ever really played White Mage and now I have changed to Dark Knight.
