Strength Tanks and You.

It's hard to argue against Tanks doing DPS when so many of the new abilities given to Warrior (and to a lesser extent, PLD) revolve around doing DPS. The hardest hitting ability in the game currently comes from a tank. It's clear SE expects tanks to do DPS too.

I've tanked every piece of content currently in the game using all STR accessories, and I've never had an issue. Occasionally an Alex DF group will start whining about my STR accessories before we've even pulled the first enemy. I never say a word. I pull the boss and tank the whole fight, often times doing more DPS than some of the actual DPS. They are usually pretty silent about the issue when we exit the arena.

That said, when I step into Alex Savage next week I'll be wearing VIT accessories. I expect some heavy tank-busters. Until I know how much HP I need to feel comfortable, I'll stack as much as possible. But that won't last. As time goes on I'll get more comfortable taking the hits, and my gear will improve. I will work STR accessories back in. Once we are late into this raid cycle I imagine I'll be back in all STR.

I don't look at an all VIT tank and think that he's bad... if he's getting the job done then it's fine. He's just not living up to his full potential. Same with healers that never use cleric stance, regardless of how light the healing is at the moment.

I've hit 837 DPS in A1 as WHM. My accuracy was 98%. Current content has no accuracy problems. Savage probably will.

While Healer DPS is great, its not THAT great. Please, show us you numbers, take a screen shot of them. I don't believe this, sorry. Now if your numbers were like 300-500 ish I might, but not almost 900.

I also noticed that the DPS are actually having to do more things now then just the normal DPS check stuff, so its getting interesting and can't wait to see what else SE is going to toss at us.

You are probably hitting trash monsters not the bosses. With an acc 354 you miss a lot. Current content have no acc problems yeah but thats for all none healers which can easy pass acc 500+ at Lv60 gears.

You have shown that you clearly don't know what you are talking about. Please stop. I'm at 98% while DPSing the entire fight. Most of those hits are on the two bosses.

Yes. Yes it is. All of the healers in the top groups on my server can reach over 800 in A1. Sorry I don't save copies of all of my group's parses. 800 is pretty low compared to what DPS jobs can reach.

Clearly you lie. Healer gears have ZERO accuracy so you are just relying on your base stat with is JUST 354. You can't deny the facts.

I have no clue what they used, I didn't stalk them to find their gear and I wasn't present for the fight. The duration of the fight speaks for itself, though. There's no way it is going to die as fast as it did if they weren't pulling the numbers they have displayed. Seems to me you're just salty that your statement was proven false.

I severely do not understand this.....why in the world would you not want max HP for any form of instance as a tank? If your foolish excuse is to have Str gear to help you hold aggro more then you severely suck at tanking! Holding hate is the easiest thing in the world in this game....for Pally spam flash every 10 seconds doing your right rotation in pulling 3 or more mobs and you will never lose hate, for Warrior....I mean seriously Warrior.....2 words for mob pulls.....overpower and steel cyclone, and for Dark.....Unleash is better than flash and it also does damage but you also have Abyssal drain that allows you to not only do a hate ability as a aoe but also buff it to heal yourself! And for all the specs....if you cant hold hate from dps or a healer in a boss fight then you need to reroll another job!!! We are tanks...not dragoons, monks or ninjas.....we are there to do one thing.....hold aggro and to stay alive. If you are to lazy sitting in your basement to press a button to use your buffs to make it so the healer can be good and balanced on healing and mana......please stop tanking and go dps if thats all you care about! So many players with stupid gameplay styles stating that they are veteran players when they still do the same crap that beginners in WoW did over 10 years ago....and they are still either to foolish to learn or to stubborn to play a job right to make it only harder on other players!
