I say it's parallel dimensions. That would explain why we are all Warriors of Light in a way.

We all live the same events from the same point of view yet we are ''the only one''. What if the Echo is simply the power born from being one of the many to be ''The One''? Echo means repetition/reflection of an original sound. It might be that we are all copies of an original entity that is the Warrior of Light/Darkness, all repeating the same story over and over again.

But what if it was a matter of mere perspective? We may all be the Warrior of Light in our world, performing heroic feats for the greater good but we could very well be the WoD to another WoL. This derplander might simply be the WoL of his own world and sees us as the WoD.

I feel like this Warrior of Darkness is not a copy of our character but the representation of other players in other worlds. They will probably simply use him (or a shapechanger who takes on the appearance of another player) and explain that there are more ''playing the game'' but it could also lead to some kind of PvP event or a faction system aswell. All will depend on what they have in mind for the future of the game.

I don't think so. I think they're trying to give both an out-of-game and in-game answer and expecting us to be able to keep our in-game and out-of-game worlds separate. The Midlander and his party in the various CGI trailers are a group of adventures, somewhere out there, that we may or may not run into one day (just as I may or may not run into you and your party one day). That's the in-game answer.

The out-of-game answer is that, like you and I, the Midlander and his group has been through similar adventures as us. Obviously (for example) you and I both didn't have dinner with Nanamo right as she was poisoned, and yet we both did. That is the problem MMOs will always have when the player character is portrayed as the protagonist of the story. Now, neither of us is going to appear in a cinematic cutscene advertising an expansion pack, so the team turns to a non-player asset: the Midlander and his group. When watching these cutscenes we're supposed to look at them and say "hey, that's supposed to represent me" - we're expected to put our role-play down long enough to acknowledge that limitation and solution.

Now, if they show the Midlander in an in-game cutscene (as they did at the end of the current storyline).. then I believe that is probably him: the in-game version of him, the guy running around with his party having his own epic adventures. Except, for some reason (unlike us) he has become the Warrior of Darkness. "..time for you and yours to join the fray..".. that's one of the last lines in the cutscene, which I'm sure refers to the Midlander and his party - a group we've been wondering if we'll ever run into in-game.

Also, I do not believe his avatar model is being used as a stand-in model for something the developers aren't ready to show us yet. That would just be tacky and confusing.. there are plenty of clothing options out there for the artists to deck an NPC in to hide their identity until the development team is ready to reveal it.

Really, I think the bigger question is - why are people breathing on the moon? :P

I'd say the biggest question about this is: What exactly would we be doing if we joined up with Elibidus and the Warrior of Darkness. And when I say "exact" I mean "exact." I don't mean vague nonsense like "restore balance" or "keep the light at bay" without any context within the game's narrative as to what it means. I dunno, I just feel like I need a bit more substance before I start drinking Ascian Kool-Aid.

That is already what the story tells us.

If there is anything wrong in the world or something bad that threaten it and no one can stop or fix this problem then leave it the the WoL because the WoL can do anything.

If we were to join with the Ascians we would be acting in direct opposition to what we were tasked by Hydaelyn, very much making us villains in the game's overarching story. This has only one obvious, if dubious, benefit. Open world PvP. This is not the kind of game, story nor game company that does that kind of thing. Even if you quote past Final Fantasies where you start as the bad guy, how long do you STAY the bad guy? This is a game of heroes, villians need not apply.

A part of the Hydaelyn and Zodiark lore that has been bothering me even now is that it feels like there is a piece of history missing from the World.

The Ascians keep say the original world was a world ruled by Zodiark while the people we know keep saying that the world has always been ruled by Hydaelyn.

Not to mention it seems Urianger may know something that we do not nor the Black Robe Ascians since Elidibus may have told Urianger something that would determine the fate of the world as a whole judging by what Eldibus said to Urianger. Maybe affecting the fate of both Hydaelyn and Zodiark.

After all Elidibus said "I would speak of fate, Archon. Yours, mine - the fate of this very star."
