Can someone please clarify why tanks care about dps so much when their main job should be tanking? Why not leave the dpsing up to the dps classes which is what a dps is supposed to do.

Because in FF14 DPS is literally everyone's job. If you're running VIT accessores in A1, you are wasting everyone's time. The healing in that fight is a joke. Very little content in Heavensward currently warrants VIT accessories, if indeed any. A lot of tanks are simply terrible at using their cooldowns appropriately.

"Woot I do 800dps tank dps FTW"
"LOL noob don't do that u're stressing the healerz"
"LOL noob my healers are good they have no troublez, you should just get gud"

"LOL noob f*** you too"

Healers & DPS: "wtf's going on there? Why are they arguing over a petty 300~400 dps increase? That's like...LOL who cares."

My guess is that more and more people is starting to use the DPS meter. And we all know that gamers wants to be on the top of it all, especially number-wise.
And now when we can see the numbers, tanks feel left behind and want to join in on it and also be "good".

I'll be honest here. In my mind, a tanks job is just to tank. His job is to yell at the enemy and say "Hey attack me!". It's the dps job to do the killing. If a tank wants to dps that badly, he should have rolled a dps class then. May seem archaic to some, but it's just how I see things.

In other games you may be correct. When it comes to 14 you're wrong. A tanks job is to not only hold aggro and mitigate damage, but to also help push as much DPS as possible since it is another form of mitigation. The faster something dies the less damage it can do to players.

What I did for HW as a warrior was to respec to full STR and wear 1 STR accessory, all the others are VIT ones. It's working very well so far.

What else should I be doing once I generate a ton of hate? Might as well do more damage to help speed up the run. Vit is a useless stat if you never take massive damage in a single shot. And since most poeple here don't do hardcore raids with bosses that can 1-shot you if you don't have enough HP, having a ton of HP is pointless.
