It's all about farming fast as possible now.FFXIV was the first MMORPG where i saw things like this:
- Did you watch Youtube videos before entering the dungeon
- Did you watch the guides before entering the dungeon
If you response, no i did not? Then you are noob and bad player.
This is strange community. Dungeons are supposed to be learned by playing them, wiping, learning by mistake, improving etc... And not how some elitists want that people should watch some videos lol.
This was in Ultimate Ballad. Easily learned after couple of wipes.
INB4: You should of watched a video.
*Twiddles thumbs and waits.*
@Crimson: Yep just saw it.
Typical.
Watching a video does very little. I could watch a video a hundred times, but the randomness of a battle and human error (whether your own or another) kinda of makes the video moot.I do agree with this to a degree.
I fail to see the point of going into a duty and asking for mechanics to be explained. If you aren't going to do it blind, why go in and make people waste their time explaining when you could have watched a video without wasting anyone's time? If you want to go in blind, don't ask for mechanics.
Sure, you could argue that you can see mechanics of the fights through a video which I agree, but just like learning to shoot in a range, then going out into a real war are 2 different things.
Judging by things, you were kicked unjustly in this case as they didn't explain enough to you.
But, when going into something that is not brand new, do you think the veterans should always explain everything?
You have other choices like a PF for learning, or watching a video explaining the fight, or reading a guide...
It doesn't take much for a veteran to explain the basics, but they do get tired of having to do that explanation over and over when it should be more about assigning roles and beating it.
I wasn't begging them to teach me the fight. I was stating that I was new and was asking if there was anything I should watch out for. There's quite a difference between that and asking for every little thing to be explained. I'm also not mad that they didn't explain things. I'm mad that they kicked me after a single wipe because I didn't know all the mechanics beforehand, and misleading information was given in the run itself, (IE: Placing the 1 marker on the add, when adds are to be attacked separately).....
Every time a new fight comes out, this discussion comes up. The new people say "If you want an expert clear with no difficulties, use the PF", and the veterans say "if you want someone to explain the fight to you, use the PF".
"Watch a video before using the DF" vs "Why can't we ever just try things for ourselves?"
OP multiple times in your post you stated that you told the group you were new and wanted explinations. While i can feel sympathy for you i also cannot overlook the fact that since you wanted to know what to do that you failed to research it on youtube or other websites that contain ffxiv info. So you are partly to blame as well.
But that's the thing-- people don't always remember everything to watch out for. There are times when I have explained a fight to a friend and just plain forgotten a particular mechanic because I'd run the fight so many times that it was second nature to me. It's placing a rather large burden on the rest of the party to expect them to be able to explain how things work to someone else, especially because not everyone is good at that. I've seen people try to explain a fight only to have someone misinterpret what they said and do exactly the wrong thing.
Asking for explanations doesn't guarantee that the ones you get will be useful. Rather than expect someone else to explain things, you'd be better off just looking up a guide, which will also save time for the other people in the party.
This same old crap again. New people shouldn't have to watch a video, that's a play style choice. People who know the fight do not have to be supper happy fun time and explain any mechanics of the fight. That is what text based guides like, I don't know Reddit are for.
yes if new people do not want to spoil the experience, but know they are going to ask for information in the run, Read a a bloody text only guide.
