    Unjust Kicking from Alexander T4

I'll preface this by admitting that it's a rant thread. I'm angry and am just venting. You can ignore this thread if you wish.....

So, I just qued up for the fourth turn of Alexander, ("The Burden of the Father"), for my first time. I told the group that it was such as soon as we were in, and asked again before the fight started what I needed to know. The only response I got was "dodge, kill adds, avoid other players". Someone in the party placed A, B, and C markers, but no one explained why. No one else said anything in regards to the fight itself aside from complaining that they had bad DPS in their last run. Part way into the run and I hadn't encountered any issues. I hadn't been hit by any AoEs, and was doing my job. Then when the adds spawned, I began to attack one before noticing that another had been marked with the "1" symbol, which in every other run ever indicates that the party should focus on said target. Of course, I promptly switched targets, and we killed the marked add. Then we wiped and someone claimed it was because the DPS didn't individually take on the other adds. I asked why no one explained that, even though I told them I was running it for the first time, and without another word I was kicked......

What is it with all these Elitist players who expect you to know everything about a run the first time you attempt it, and won't offer any explanations even when you make it clear that you are new, then proceed to kick players after one failed attempt for not knowing what they didn't bother to explain?

Just poor people who think they are too good to run with newbies. Only thing you can sadly do is try another group and hope its one more tolerable of new people. People have WAY to high expectation going into a duty finder and expecting everyone to master the turn before they even try it.

Apathy from the group is most likely why you were successfully kicked.

I've found that most people tend to just be silent and go with what whatever the loudest person wants, which is usually the rager wanting to kick/abandon wrongly.

I don't know what's more sad, the ragers themselves, or the apathy of the people who don't care when fellow players are treated like dirt.

I agree that the kick was unjust. You made the mistake once. Not over and over. Plus you were new.

However, they're not obligated to type out all the mechanics for you (a random pug), just like you're not obligated to know the mechanics. It bugs me when newbies rage at vets for not holding their hands. I know you didn't rage - I'm just saying that it's a pet peeve of mine when it does happen.

FFXIV was the first MMORPG where i saw things like this:

    - Did you watch Youtube videos before entering the dungeon
    - Did you watch the guides before entering the dungeon

If you response, no i did not? Then you are noob and bad player.

This is strange community. Dungeons are supposed to be learned by playing them, wiping, learning by mistake, improving etc... And not how some elitists want that people should watch some videos lol .

This was in Ultimate Ballad. Easily learned after couple of wipes.

It's rather entitled of you to expect that they are obligated to teach you the fight, frankly. They don't have to play teacher if they don't want to. It's nice if they do, but they are doing nothing wrong if they don't.

That's why I stay quiet when I do Alex. Even when I first stepped into t1, I was asked "Did you watch a video?". Like really? What is the point of playing when I could just watch a video? 'u' Wasting their monthly subscription honestly. Of course I didn't say anything. Unfortunately I did cause some wipes, but luckily I was with a good group. But I do agree with you. I mean it's understandable to watch a video for a difficult battle after getting some experience if you're not sure how to proceed, but I think it defeats the purpose of playing video games. Just my opinion on this..

I do agree with this to a degree.

I fail to see the point of going into a duty and asking for mechanics to be explained. If you aren't going to do it blind, why go in and make people waste their time explaining when you could have watched a video without wasting anyone's time? If you want to go in blind, don't ask for mechanics. If you want an explanation, watch a video. Making people explain to you is pretty annoying.

It's almost like the duty finder is the wrong place for this kind of content! Even dumbed down it's bound to furstrate people to no end that they are going to be grouped with people they have no control over unlike a party finder where you can state your rules.

People will go in expecting to be carried
People will go in expecting people to know the fight by heart.

    ...I hate the duty finder.

I sympathise with this ignorance dude. Was running Garuda HM with my missus to get her the staff and one particular had these two speed runners screaming "DPS Garuda only! No feathers or sisters. Now maybe this is norm for parties where everyone is decked out in high i100's but two guys were new.

Naturally we wiped, what a joke.
