THIS. FFXIV makes you blindly hope to recruit someone. FFXI lets you SEE who wants to party and WHERE THEY ARE!

Simply not true.. I've tried using it countless times... I've gotten exactly two people to join me through it.
Exactly. But that's just because next to no one is using it. When its used, it works though. I agree its not as easy as it was on XI, but it does work.

Honestly, I'm not sure why they didn't keep it the way it was in XI. I'm guessing that maybe they are trying to hard to not be XI-2 perhaps :/

I suspect it's to address the concern I've always had with FFXI /sea usage: it results in harassment. I don't know if you remember, but in FFXI people didn't just search for lfg people their level and to see if other parties were in the camps they were heading to, but often it was used to harass every single person of a certain job/level range until people could fill a missing spot in a party (for find a PL). Yes, you could hide your job/level, but it was annoying to toggle that option when you actually wanted to go lfg.

I'm sure there were other abuses of the /sea command. For instance, people would search a region to see if someone was camping "their NM" or cash mobs--if they saw the same person there regularly, the reported them as RMT. (Remember: Anyone you didn't know that farmed what you were after was often labeled "RMT" with or without merit to the claim. Apparently everyone thought they were the only ones willing to camp the same place over and over for a popular reward.)

I think vision had a bad experience in FFXI and he/she is expecting the same thing here, though i think most people never felt that they were "harassed"(i played a RDM from day one and never got "harassed", just invited a lot)

I actually loved seeing the words " (Party) (Do you need it?)" especially when i was on a DD job. Even when i wasnt seeking it sometimes got me to say "eh why not, might as well party for a bit" so i would change my plans on a whim.

I'd much rather see them implement something like Aion's party seeking system. It's better than either FFXI or FFXIV's system.

I played for 8 years.. sure I got tells sometimes but i was never harrased.. there is always do not disturb and (|I'm sorry I'm playing solo right now|) and then you ignore tells.. easy as that.. this is a very stupid reason to not implement it.
