    Blue Gatherer Scrips

    So I'm confused.

I thought the scrip system was supposed to do away with the need for expensive melds. Progressing through time spent rather than progressing through throwing money at something.

I'm a 58 MIN at the moment and I'd like to gather the collectables required for getting scrip. But I can't do that because I don't seem to have enough GP or HQ gear to get a high enough collectability rating. Isn't that exactly what the scrip system was supposed to fix? Am I just doing something wrong?

It's getting pretty frustrating for me to see those scrips being offered and not being able to obtain them when the entire stated purpose of scrips was supposed to be that they were for people who didn't have a ton of money to spend on gear.

I'm pretty sure you are able to get the lowest level script hand in that rewards scripts with the level 55 set assuming you have a reasonable level main/off hand and use Discerning Eye + Methodical Appraisal x 2 + Methodical Appraisal don't use the skill to reveal the items just remember what slot the item is in and you can save 300GP there and it should get you to just over or just under the requirement if its just under you will usually hit it when you gather as it tends to add a extra point or 2 and the node should have enough HP to get you 2 items.

I don't remember the exact gear I had but it was around the lvl 55 set with a few HQ peices and a HQ off hand I was level 60 though so not sure if that adds in some extra base stats.

You can use some food to boost your perception to make it slightly easier for your first node as well.

Its all about perception last I checked so I upgraded the gear that boosted that first to make it easier to get the rest.

Not an expert though so someone else feel free to correct me

Buy gear from NPC. If you still can't do it, your rotation needs work.

Things are looking pretty grim for your argument right now, with HQ off hand and all NQ items the rest only 504 perception. To the Matoyas place now to see what full NQ is like.

    Results:
Full NQ 55 left side, with the level 60 tool and the 59 off hand tool gives 482 perception. With 600 GP this is (just barely) enough to obtain a single item.

This means that unmelded without HQ items its impossible to collect scrips before level 60. Fully NQ accesories (available only at 58), give a total GP of 573.
This is short of the required 600 GP, meaning with a fully unmelded, NQ set of items, without using food, it is impossible to collect scrips.

    Which means that:

It's possible to collect scrips without HQ or melded items, or food
    Myth busted.

To the OP: rather then saying something you have no use for; as oft seems to be customary here; I will give you an answer of use to you:

I would advise waiting one level untill 59 so that you can obtain the NQ level 59 off hand from Matoya's Cave (there is a vendor in there that sells all DoH/DoL 59 OH tools).
Buy cheap GP food (Ratatouille, Beef stew).

Further more, if you can find someone to meld for you, meld Guile 1 Materias to your items untill you reach 480~ perception, and some Gatherer's Grasp 1/2 Materias untill you have 600 GP with the food of your choice.

This will allow you to use the following rotation:

Discerning Eye, Methodical, Discerning Eye, Methodical, Utmost Caution, Methodical, Utmost Caution, Methodical
On the lowest tier of scrip collectibles.

In short, use the cheapest means possible to obtain 600GP and around 480 perception and you will be able to start obtaining gatherer's scrips.

So I tried this and it got me to 360 collectability. 450 was the minimum for hand-in.

My stats right now at 58 are: Gathering 468, Perception 468, GP 575.

I've got the full NQ set from Moghome, NQ mainhand, NQ offhand. My accessories are level 50 HQ green stuff (unmelded) with the exception of a level 52 gathering earring I was able to make. I COULD make the level 57 gathering earring (probably) but it'd only give me +2 GP over what I'm wearing right now.

The "dumb but safe" way to get the max collectability that does not involve RNG, from any node, is
Discerning eye / Methodical Appraise / Discerning eye / Methodical Appraise / Discerning eye / Methodical Appraise
This should still let you collect 2 things.

This will cost 600 GP. If you don't get at least 150 collectability from each buffed appraise, you need either better gear (HQ) or eat food or use FC perception buffs.

I have been struggling with this too. I don't think it will take too much effort to get this to work though. Food would be a big helper. Especially on GP. Have a look at this reddit page, maybe it will help you out.

I suggest upgrading your main hand and off hand to Hq as even the ilvl 90 Hq ones are better than the NQ level57 tools last I recall will check in a moment just dishing up dinner

I had the ilvl 55 set in NQ except for the hat which was HQ and barely melded accessories the same as you have.
I can't recall what off hand I had at the time but I would assume it was a HQ titanium scythe which has 106/186 comapred to the 98/172 of the NQ adamantite one.
The fact that the ilvl 85 pickaxe has better stats than the NQ ilvl 120 is ridiculous in my opinion and probably where most of your hassle is coming from if its not HQ its a waste of time.

Also at level 60 with HQ mythrite pickaxe and mythrite sledge hammer I have the stats of 484/506 with the set above I pulled them off my retainers to give you a base line that might help you see where your issues are, there is a +23 perception food you could aslo buy I believe to get you over the edge if you still have issues the tools might not be what I used at the time though so I'd say get the next tier up at least to be safe if you want minimal hassle.

I'll come back at 59 and let you know how that went.

Right now this system feels kinda bait-and-switchy. Hopefully it gets better.
