I'll come back at 59 and let you know how that went.
Right now this system feels kinda bait-and-switchy. Hopefully it gets better.

It didn't get better.
So I'm 60 now... bought the NQ mainhand, bought NQ offhand at 59, was able to pick up level 60 NQ head and hands. Everything else was either HQ only or the NQ cost as much as the HQ. In either case the available piece was beyond my ability to purchase it.
Currently sitting at:
Gathering 492
Perception 493
GP 575
Just tried for the lowest level scrip item for the day (light kidney ore) with perception/gp food........444 collectability was the best I could scrape. This is lower than the required level of 450 to obtain scrip from the LOWEST LEVEL ITEM.
So I think my earlier position stands at this point.. the scrip system was intended, or at least it was stated, to be an alternative to purchasing expensive gear or expensive melds from the MB. It has failed. Badly. I cannot obtain scrip WITHOUT expensive gear and/or expensive melds. So the thing that's supposed to be an alternative to doing that, requires that in order to do it. Epic fail.
Seeing as I managed to grab the full Trailblazer set by using the MH from Helix, the OH from Matoya's Cave, the left-hand armor pieces from Moghome and old, un-melded, electrum/raptorskin accessories (though in hindsight I don't know why I didn't meld these with some cheap grade 1 perception materia) and some cheap food from the vendor in Ishgard you may want to start entertaining the notion that the fault lies with you, not the design.

Perhaps you should consider reading the other posts in this thread. The ones with actual facts.Seeing as I managed to grab the full Trailblazer set by using the MH from Helix, the OH from Matoya's Cave, the left-hand armor pieces from Moghome and old, un-melded, electrum/raptorskin accessories (though in hindsight I don't know why I didn't meld these with some cheap grade 1 perception materia) and some cheap food from the vendor in Ishgard you may want to start entertaining the notion that the fault lies with you, not the design.
Could you post me the rotation you used?
It should be:
This will give you a 500% multiplier, higher then the other suggested rotations. It requires 600GP to use. However, as long as you can hit your normal meth for 90 or more, it will give you the 450 total rarity you need.Discerning Eye, Methodical, Discerning Eye, Methodical, Utmost Caution, Methodical, Utmost Caution, Methodical
488 perception gives 98 on a meth hit if mining light kidney ore, so your current perception should be enough.

i posted you how to do it with full <= lvl 55 NQ gear and 400 GP with a 50% chance to collect 1 item (and 10% chance to collect 2).
if you want a 100% chance to collect 1 item then i know for sure that u can do it with NQ leftside Gear + HQ 55/56 tools and only 400GP, cause thats when i gathered my 58 scrip gear.
If you are slightly below 450 collectability then why dont you meld some cheap perception materia? You only need enough perception so that your MA increases collectability by 100.

I have read the thread, your facts are fictional.
The gear I listed + vendor food for less than 400gil per use gives 487 perception.
487 perception is enough to get 450+ on a 57 node.
It requires the use of Instinctual or Impulsive Appraisal and a little bit of luck but you only need it to happen three times before you get a solid perception boost from a scrip item.
Also, a lot of much better perception food is dirt cheap on the market right now because there's tons from questing rewards that people just throw up, it isn't needed
but if it's there for cheaps you might as well.
If you're going to throw out an attitude, at least make sure you're right.

Those are lvl 58 items not 55 http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...m/93eaa826ad4/
Script gear is fine for not spend cash on it.
As a fisher i have no complains since not so hard to get, Working fine as intended.

I concede, I mislisted as Item level 55.
That said, I don't agree they are working as intended. You cannot acquire folklore items with Scrip gear alone, your stats will be too low for any gathering class.
Folklore items are those that require 99 Rowena's tokens (each at 50 scrips a pop) which are exposed after you read the folklore tome.
SE advertised the Scrip system as a way to get high level Gathering without the need for melds, which is untrue and misleading, as if you really want to gather those highest level items, you most certainly need HQ overmelded gear from crafters in at least some slots.

Nope, you can get the collectables needed with NQ lvl 55 items from churning mist npc/job quest rewards items. The only trouble maybe will be jewerly, but lvl 50 stuff is fine with just normal meld if you need Gath or Perc. (or well if you have a supra/foragers gear have no trouble at all). And food, npc food from foundation is good too.
Fisher need mostly pray for good RNG, and on BTN/MINER there are good rotations, though you may just be getting one collectable per time.
I think he means gather from legendary nodes, not get the collectibles for the books.Nope, you can get the collectables needed with NQ lvl 55 items from churning mist npc/job quest rewards items.
