The biggest problem I've seen with the Ala Mhigan patriots is they tend to act belligerently entitled. The most standout example being Ilberd, given how he ranted like a spoiled brat at Halatali.

Anyways as for ala mihgan it had the dynasty ruling if i remember from mnk story line, the temple of light/dark sect monks where the powerhouse of the place, light sect got seduced by garlean and started mistrusting the dynasty and then dark sect stepped in they fighted to the death dark sect lost and was branded the evil sect, and then garleans came to conquer.

I'm pretty sure it's too late for the most part. There have been plenty of youths born into imperial ala mhigo and the garleans have been known to 'brainwash' as they say ala mhigan youths to hate beastmen and all those that disagree with the empires culture.

Though, you have to wonder how many of those who are complacent out of hopelessness to the contrary or contentedness with stability would rise up if a revolution gained enough momentum. I wonder how many Ala Mhigans remember when they ousted Theodoric only to have the magitek arrive to sack the city, and how many were killed when Baelsar assumed power as viceroy and put down all resistance. I also wonder how many minds were changed when the children raised under stable Garlean rule were conscripted to bolster the VIIth Legion only to have them completely annihilated by Bahamut, and that was only if they had survived the previous battles against the united city-states.

Granted, if we offered them sovereignty and the restoration of their kingdom in exchange for rising up and joining the Alliance, the city would probably tear itself apart again. I suspect the Gyr Abania patch cycle (assuming 4.0) is going to be brutal.

Cinematic magitek war trailer hype. Although maybe it won't be a simple as liberating nations then banding together to fight an empire like the story seems to be going in the long run. Something just makes me think that's too predictable.

    Ala Mhigo

Ala Mhigo was once the greatest of the six city-states. Located on the landbridge between Aldenard and Ilsabard in the Gyr Abania region, it was home to the Highlander race. It's patron diety was Rhalgr, the destroyer and Ala Mhigans took it to heart. Ala Mhigo boasted a military made up of lancers legions and monks that was so mighty it rivaled the power of Garlemald. During the Autumn War a century prior, it took the combined efforts of Ishguard, Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah, and Gridania to hold back Ala Mhigo's attack on Gridania.

Garlemald knew that they could not take Ala Mhigo in a straight assault without many casualties. So Gaius van Baelsar sought to create civil unrest within the nation to topple it from within. At the time, Ala Mhigo was ruled by Theodric, now known as the King of Ruin. For reasons unknown, Theodric became paranoid and fearful of the power and influence of the Fists of Rhalgr, a religious group of Monks within the city. Theodric outlawed the worship of Rhalgr and proclaimed himself divine ruler by the Goddess Nymeia. In protest, the monks took up arms against Theodric. The King then used these uprisings as a pretext to imprison high ranking Monks and torture them into false confessions of their betrayal to the crown.

In 1552 of the Sixth Astral Era, Theodric led a vast army to the Monk's temple and surrounded it. They set fire to the temple and slaughtered all within. By crippling Ala Mhigo's army Theodric all but invited the Garlean advance and the city fell in but a single day. No longer were they a match for the Machina's might. Refugees fled south and regrouped to halt the Garlean advance, but to no avail. Gaius van Baelsar dispersed the Ala Mhigans with ease and what remained of the once proud nation were forced to seek refuge in the city-state of Ul'dah.

Today, Ala Mhigo serves as the forward foot of the Garlean Empire in Eorzea. A monolithic wall has been erected across Gyr Abania and from the city Garleans launch their warships. Those who could not escape the city have been imprisoned or brainwashed by the Garleans. No attempts at reclaiming the city have been successful.

Source: As I have always seen it, Ala Mihgo while surely war like, was among the few things halting advancement on Erozea by the Garleans. From a lore aspect the history of my own characters back story has always been tied with his roots in Ala Mihgo, (as a child) and would very much like to see any information on it expanded.

I do wonder how much of the resistance remembers or even knows the Ala Mihgo they want back. According to the timeline, its been over 25 years since the worship of Rhalgr was outlawed by the King of Ruin and the Monks massacred, and 20 since Gaius took over the place. Most of the resistance fighters would have been young at the time, or not even born yet, pretty much only knowing of their "true" homeland by the stories of their elders...which are most certainly imperfect. (I'm assuming Hyur age somewhat like we do, so most of the fighters would be between 20 and 35, their leaders being older)

Is there a citation for Ala Mhigo's power rivaling Garlemald's? I don't remember reading that anywhere. It's a well-researched and accurate summary, but that one part sounds like an over-estimation, to me. The Empire had magitek, fourteen legions, two continents, and hadn't lost Agrius, yet.

true but before Theodoric slew the monks there were 1 sect that was broken up in 2 parts (the light and shadow sects) during the time when there was 1 sect they were learning the arts of both sects therefor were much stronger then than they are now (on par with the WoL after unlocking the 14th chakra (or at least i imagine the higher ups were)) therefore i have no doubt that even having maybe 20 of the higher ups along with a bunch of the younger less experienced monks that they could have rivaled the garlan invasion force (except maybe the agrius)

Light sect fought dark sect in an almost deathmatch to unlock the 14th chakra which gave them an almost super sayian power. Before the massacre of the temple the king of ruin started a feud between light and dark the latter being on the side of the king, and light being on the side of freedom?, light destroying the dark sect weakened them, then the king massacred the temple.

As in the last fight of mnk you get a ridiculous 2k hp regen, plus a x10dmg bonus when you enter the 14th chakra mode so that might explain a bit of the power.
