I think that if I can pug a dungeon or raid finder in wow I can do the same here, even with a more involved tanking rotation and mitigation. You have to give people some credit.

Are you saying WoW tanking is harder than FFXIV tanking?
Cause that seems unlikely. I'm not that experienced in FFXIV tanking, but I have a lot in WoW and it really wasn't that skilled based.
It only started to have any difficulty when Blood DKs got active mitigation, and then when they spread it to the other tanks.

But the active mitigation was still very minor even when doing Mythic. You had stuff to do, but if you survived was still mostly about healers and your gear unless you just weren't doing anything.
Thee only tanks that have any sort of managing are Brewmasters and Blood DKs, as of now.
My limited experience with DRK already puts it about the same level as either of those.

The only thing WoW probably does more than is to have more consistent damage instead of weak Auto-attacks + Tank Busters.
They moved away from that, and that would be good.

Outside of talking about skill, tanks need to optimize gear for mitigation in WoW to survive content and there are more ways to do that.
Gearing for dps, while possible in WoW, is not the tank meta because it really makes a big difference and your survivability is more at stake.

So while I agree WoW tanking has more interesting parts about gear and consistent damage, their rotations are still mostly mindless.
You could literally go get a drink or something while tanking some Mythic bosses, though they'll have to heal a bit more.

WoW's tanking isn't that complicated, but yeah... it's harder than XIV tanking. Imagine an easier version of Prot Warrior, that's every tank in XIV.
