Your post makes it seem like you're the one terrified to look at an Elin or Lalafel. You can give a children-like character any name, tell its awesome lore , say they are ancient plants or animal or whatever, but if they look like children, they are children.
We are human beings, not dogs that follow what they are told to do so. A Dev or even Superman can tell you that a lalafell or a tarutaru or an Elin are not children but you know they are. And you know that people pick them exactly for their childish looks.
You know that, you just don't want to accept it because you are afraid to be considered a pedophile. If you are not, then there is no need to be defensive about it.
I like Elins, i think they're adorable.
Did you know you can think a child is cute/adorable IRL without being arrested for pedophilia? Just in case you were not aware, pedophiles are pedophiles because they rape and/or molest young boys and girls. Not because they look at a small video game character and think its cute/adorable.
Do you also accuse short people IRL of being children? I've a few female friends who would headbutt you if you said that to their face.
What about people who have dwarfism? Do you accuse them of being children also?
I guess what I'm trying to get you to understand is that height is not indicative of a persons age. Humanity shows that, let alone video game characters.
Good lord this thread got waaaay off topic.
Minfilia's outfit is indeed one design that I seriously cannot understand. :3

The people who like lalafel aren't the ones who creep me out, because I know they just like cute potato people. It's the people who accuse lala-lovers of pedophilia that creep me out. WHY would that thought/idea even cross your mind? It definitely makes me raise my eyebrow in suspicion. You can give a children-like character any name, tell its awesome lore , say they are ancient plants or animal or whatever, but if they look like children, they are children.

Can we not devolve this thread into another "why we cant play as kids" debate? There's plenty of other threads specifically for that debate
i see there's a lot of people on planet earth that are still uncomfortable with their sexuality. You guys need to get over this imaginary "over sexualized" propoganda

While I agree with the jist of the rest of your post, I have to correct you here.
Pedophiles are more accurately described as 'pedosexuals' as they are sexually attracted to young children, in the same way homosexuals are attracted to the same sex (note: I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE THE SAME THING, I am only saying that the mechanism behind the attraction is the same. Please do not conflate homosexuals with pedosexuals). Being sexually attracted to something does not mean you rape and/or molest that thing. Homosexuals do not rape and/or molest other men and women because they have basic decent common sense (i.e. morality and empathy), and the same goes for pedosexuals. The only ones you ever hear about are the ones who are caught doing some crime of some sort, and half of those people aren't even pedophiles, but rather victims of child abuse.
It's a very common misconception that all pedophiles are child molesters, but this is not the case in reality. In reality there are many hundreds of thousands (no exaggeration) of people who could be identified as pedophiles who have never once laid a hand on a child or even committed any crimes at all. So let's just get that straight before we go too far off the rails, yeah?
