Uh.
If he meant "I'll eventually catch up on aggro if you turn Grit off" then yeah, he's a moron. But if he meant turn off Grit so that you didn't generate excess enmity so that he could provoke it off you while staying in Deliverance, then... that's kind of a thing.
Couldn't he just sheathe his weapon, and stop using offensive skills?
He should have thrown Defiance, provoked, got a threat lead while the other tank switches off threat stance and then thrown deliverance back on once it's clear that he had enough lead on the other tank and switched back to defiance if he needed the parry, the health pool, the heals received bonus, or if the other tank was creeping back up.

He should have unchained ready to go if he's been in Deliverance the whole time. He can go defiance, voke, and unchained to build a huge lead and drop back to Deliverance with hardly a deeps lost. There's no reason to make excuses for that WAR.
That's still a damage loss, and that Unchained could've been a Fell Cleave. :V
But I guess if you don't know if the other tank knows how to drop threat, for safety, you should go into Defiance and Unchained. So fair enough. Still, I'd highly suggest dropping Grit @ 4~5 stacks and popping something like Foresight or Shadowskin to make swapping easier (Shadowskin being the equivalent of being in Grit).
The issue wasn't dropping grit. He said he's not switching stances or provoking. End result I died at 9 stacks then he turned on the MNK then the WHM THEN the WAR
I really hope the twist to this story is that this WAR didn't have provoke.
Would be a good laugh.
