    1488 slots.
WOW: 96 slots on average (that would be the 20 slot bags plus 16 slot backpack). I had 11 alts.
So about. 1056. (This doesn't count bank slots.)
Practically double what we're allotted in FFXIV.
But wait: The biggest bag you can have is 30 slots. They support 136 slots of inventory.

    FFXIV: 1 character, 100 slots. 2 retainers 175 slots.
450 slots available to my account.

Giving us all an extra retainer shouldn't kill the server. We're not even close to the amount of inventory space of other MMOs.
For all intents and purposes, our characters have more than just the 100 slots offered by the bag. We have the Armory Chest, as well.
100 Inventory Slots + 12x25 = 300. So 400 inventory slots on our character, where games like WoW actually shares the inventory for armor/items. + 2 retainers, as you said, 175 (Not even sure this quantity) = 575 inventory slots on one character

Do I think that they should give us more inventory/a free retainer? Yes. I think claiming constantly there are "hardware limitations" to everything is growing to be insulting. But at the same time, we get content at such a fast rate compared to other MMO's, I understnad that they're not just sitting around on our money.

Except this expansion. They took forever getting to this expansion. But it was so damn worth it.

They might be able to save themselves space by introducing an item log xD....

Of course it can't be per item in order to do that but they could do for example "obtain and trade in the entire tank set of X dungeon" unlock tank glamour page. So the log doesn't store per item it stores per complete set, reducing say 8 items into 1.

Could go bigger, "all DoW", but people would probably complain. Valentine 2002. Etc etc. Of course you could still glamour from single items, but I think a lot of people would collect up the requirements and then turn them in. Perhaps throw in some achievement, item, or reward for finishing big sets or certain number of sets - just to give it an extra push. Might cause a temporary rush in market and running low level content though.

Also just cause lazy, let the book pull prices straight from the Market Board so you don't have to go to the board to purchase dyes or glamour dust (still buys from players, just doesn't require you to visit the board). I don't say NPC prices because that'd make the player version of the board get rekt.

Other games are bringing people on different servers together, while I can't even communicate with someone in a duty Lol.

And really, 4 bosses for the end game. Even WoW gives at least 10 per raid tier.

    We get 4.
Yes, because WoW puts ALL of their current focus into their raids, neglecting everything else. FF spreads out their content resources over many aspects of endgame, not just raids for shinies. Try finding a story close to HW's caliber in WoW's current expansion, WoD. Every game company has their strengths and weaknesses. I could literally point out a weak point in every MMO I've ever played.

If I recall, SE actually does have the capability to allow /tells in dungeons if they wanted to. There was a big debate about this during the ARR release. I believe SE's stance was they didn't want people harassing fellow players in /tells during or after the dungeon for subpar play, or something of the like. I don't agree with that, as you can still do that in party, but it sounds like a stance SE would take. They do everything they can to ensure this game has a friendly environment.

P.S. I believe something like 6% of people cleared up to Final Coil in ARR before HW came out, or something of the like. So they'd be using a lion's share of their resources to design extensive raids for 6-10% of the population. I'm a fan of raiding/challenges, but this is not that smart from a business perspective.

Hey that's mean, they also have great major patches (as a dev called it) that include things that everybody wanted like selfies and twitter. Here is an "interview" with a dev about one of their patches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQR9XWGFkj4

Better than the actual interviews. There was one recently which has the players in an uproar. Anyway, I was simply pointing out to certain players that they don't know how good they have it here right now. You are playing probably the only current sub MMO among a saturated market of F2p and lackluster MMOs. Some of these MMOs are decent, but here you are given new QUALITY content every 3 months. A substantial chunk of it at that. There are some people in other MMOs who wait a year for new content. There are some people who have to pay real $ in the cash shop to buy items that will give them an ADVANTAGE over other players. Cash shop here is purely cosmetic. All the complaining lately on the forums... I understand people often complain about something they are passionate about but please... take a step back and breath. Think of the great game you are currently playing.

Thats for legacy accounts. Don't count the "40 characters max" because thats spread across multiple worlds. Multiple worlds wouldn't be running on the same hardware.

And thats Legacy players. I'm going to guess that there's a lot more standard accounts than legacy at the moment.

I was in the midst of changing my post since max total across characters doesn't make sense to the argument given that you could only be logged into one character at a time.

You know this whole thing could be worked around effortlessly if they allowed us to send items to alts and they could act as mules, all diablo style.

Yeaaah shoot I forgot the armory space.

But even still, with caching and hashing they should be able to accommodate it without stretching to the limits of what their hardware is capable of handling.

Note though, that they make you open the armoury chest seperately - so then is that a separate call to load inventory from the server? It doesn't open simultaneously with your bag after all.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting progress in the sphere of MMOs though. Yeah this is nice and it looks nice, but did they try to improve MMO gaming as a whole where they could? That's what millions of dollars are invested into an mmo for, isn't it? To make something better than the other guys and make theirs look like old news?
Hardware is improving all the time, and it's certainly improved since the time of WOW, but we're being restricted to WOW tier stuff by way of hardware some how? How does that make any sense?
