If they made it though that you would switch mid fight but on a 30 second cooldown or something I think that would be fair on both sides. Lets you still switch if something coming up might better benefit from one vs the other, but also prevents you from flipping back and forth and putting both up. Although to be honest, with AST being less potent, letting us pop both regen and a shield up would make the class way more appealing.
it would def be appealing if you like the way AST plays but... as soon as your a SCH and you get a big crit adlo only to see a small aspected benefic (or whatever other aspected skills they use) over take it you end up wanting to either A. wring the AST's neck or B. cry tears of blood in a corner somewhere...If they made it though that you would switch mid fight but on a 30 second cooldown or something I think that would be fair on both sides. Why not ? it's written that the power of the shield is equal to the amount of health points the skill provided. So if i make a critical blow on Aspected Benefic, 1800 instead of 1000 by exemple, the shield created should be 1800 hp too.
yes, but the equivalent Adlo shield for that 1800hp heal would be 3600.
If an AST Aspected Benefic crits for 2000 the shield is 2000. If a SCH Adloquium crits for 2000 the shield is 4000.

How do you know when something crits? I've been playing for almost a year and I haven't noticed anything at least obvious that shows that?

I think Noct could be fixed with a couple of buffs. First Make the shield always 1.5 times the heal amount in both AspHelios and AspBene. Make it so it doesn't overwrite a larger Galvanize. Then some kind of use for Celestial Opposition and Time Dilation to offset the loss of potency that is gained by extending Diurnal regens. Being able to use Time Dilation on self would also be nice.
