Healing help with a sch as a whm in a1s.

Hi everyone,

My static has been struggling on a1s for weeks now. The biggest problem we’ve had is our war off tank dying. Often he won’t be healed enough for the tank buster or he’ll be low going into prey and die then. Getting to enrage has been very inconsistent because of this. We got ourselves a new sch and are still having the same problem (even though to a lesser degree).

The problem could be our war tank. Maybe he isn’t using the right cooldowns, however, he doesn’t seem particularly squishy when I’ve healed him.

The problem could be me. Maybe I need to heal the other tank more. I solo heal the entire first phase. The sch takes over healing the off tank right when the 3000 ton missile (ie blue laser beams) is cast. He keeps healing until I medica 2 the last gunnery pod in that phase. I really have no problem keeping my tank up. I do a lot of healing and moving when baiting the resin and photon phaser. I really just don’t have the time to toss the off tank a heal and its takes about every gcd I have to keep my stuff together.

So my question is: How much do other whm help heal the off tank during phase 2?

We got to this issue ourselves with also a sch/whm setup, War/Drk tanks (second week progression). We go Holmgang first n 3rd and Living Dead on 2nd, So I as sch migitate the drk on first n 3rd with adlo ss and virus and the war on second. The whm fires Tetras to heal each the other tank up. Theoretically will work, we got to 28% yesterday.
CDs are Dark Mind+Shadow Wall/Vengeance+Inner Beast for the migitated busters I think.

What do you mean the whm fires triangulates to heal?

We run pld and war. The pld is 100% solid. Rampart/Sentinel first and third. Hallowed the second. Works like a charm and I get to help the sch with the second. The war hasn't had a problem with his mitigation cooldowns for the buster. The main problem has been not getting healed up before it hits. Is there anything the war should be doing before/during prey while the healers are distracted? It could the war is just taking too much damage for the sch to catch up. I also suspect the sch isn't moving and healing during resin and photon enough.

With only Holmgang/Living Dead and no further Migitation the tanks will drop to 1 HP n that instacast is the easiest way to top them up again to not die to next Autoattack. Thats the first few seconds after the busters, we keep topping the rest with regen, m2, cures. But consider this was only our 3rd raid in total and we only seen three times the second jump due to derp, lag and other fails

And get your war to use Equilibrium for the Holmganged hit. It really helps.

In my current group, we have WHM (me) SCH, DRK, WAR. I heal the DRK while the SCH heals the WAR. I solo heal the entire first 40% while the SCH stays in cleric stance with Selene. After the split, I keep regen up on both tanks, but other than that, I almost never have to heal the WAR. My co-healer takes care of that.

Thanks for the info. I actually have ACT track my regens on both tanks. It's pretty nice.

Oh well, from what you've written so far, all I can tell is that the scholar isn't prepared well enough for the prey+tankbuster chain. What the scholar can do:

Adlo the prey target and/or tank (at least one should have it the very least)
Indomitability the prey target and the tank if they're in range (it's still 400 instant potency on both)
Virus whichever boss the warrior is tanking for plasma
Emergency Tactics Adloquium+lustrate whoever has prey should be sufficient to keep them alive after the first missile hits at that point
Save rouse for that particular part of the fight
If the scholar is using Eos, Fey Covenant the tank before the plasma
Dissipation the fairy if the scholar's desperate for stacks. There isn't a lot of incoming damage after the tank buster, especially when the bosses are channeling the ground AoE. Not recommended, however, as it'll cost you more MP in the end than you gain.

As for the warrior, they can heal up for a good chink with Equilibrium if the healers are too occupied due to preys, if he/she hasn't been doing that yet.

And for the question in particular; The White Mage helps out healing both tanks and the entire group if this allows the scholar to spend more time off DPSing. White Mages are perfectly capable of doing so, but the moment preys are assigned and plasma comes is the one moment you'll be too busy to relief the scholar of their healing duties.

Thanks for all of these suggestions. I'll bring them to my static when we raid next.

I solo heal the entire first phase. I may get a whispering dawn (eos aoe regen) towards the end but otherwise the sch is 100% in cleric stance. I also try and give him enough time to dot up both bosses at the beginning and end of phase 2. He almost always get his dots in the start of the phase. The ending is a bit more difficult. His dps was also really low. So I dunno.
