    Other than a couple of tiny cooldown tweaks and boosting Hot Shot to 10%, I really don't see a problem. I regularly see MCH do very respectable damage in dungeons and in AoE situations they're fantastic. Just a few hours ago one did almost 800 DPS on Neverreap's final boss. There's few problems with the job but seemingly many problems with the players.

    The lack of mention on GB's current state bothers me though. Also 800 is pretty much peak on a typical fight from what I see. You'd have to be on top of everything including blank cooldowns just to get that high.

    I'd be happy with just having auto attacks while in GB. Our mobility is already cut with the cast times.

    Here's a bit more detailed version of his response:

    laughs) We heard that a lot of players find the machinist's DPS to be low, however we've had the dev team run tests on it and the machinist job can do a lot of damage. I'm sure most players use that DPS recording software, and it can be outdated or the skill rotation used by the team and the players is different. At the moment we're looking into the origin of this difference.
    I want to stay cautious on that topic. We understand that people complain about the machinist's dps being too low. There's a big difference between the numbers given by players and numbers given by the dev team members who have a very high experience of the game and perfect mastery of the machinist job. Thus we try to understand if a mistake could have been made on the dev team side regarding the DPS calculation or if the players are just not yet used to the machinist since Heavensward was only released a few days back, which is most likely not enough to master the job. Right now, we're trying to find out where the problem is and if there really is a problem or a bug, we'll obviously fix it. But we're not there yet, we're just looking into it and figuring out why it happens.
    Concerning the machinist, his role is similar to the bard, it's a support for the other members of the team. So, compared to other pure DPS jobs like monk or ninja, of course its DPS will be lower since they have different roles. With the upcoming release of Alexander next week, we'll be very happy to receive feedback from the players.
    He agrees that we have "different roles" (so why is there no "support" slot?), so our dps should be lower. They're testing it to see where the discrepancy is coming from, but his basic feeling is that MCH players just don't know how to play the class properly.

    I appreciate this better translation, this is far better looking than the one I saw! Far more optimistic.

    Yeah, I'm hoping there's just a discrepancy somewhere. I'm still not sure what they were trying to accomplish with Gauss Barrel, though. DPS is still relatively the same with or without it.

    Seriously though, its damage is fine. Just because the class' skill floor is a bit higher doesnt mean the class is garbage. I've been beating bards pretty easily.

    Pretty lame response from SE on this. I think there is a solution though!

    1. All DPS classes lose their utility skills. They will now be "pure DPS" and have no benefit to the party aside from dealing good damage. This means no crit buff from DRG, Mantra from MNK, etc.
    2. BRD/MCH classes removed from the game. Everyone now regenerates TP/MP 20% faster.

    No just no, MCH is not hard to play at all.

    I find it hard to believe that EVERY player playing MCH is doing it wrong by SE logic...
