Thanks, I didn't know you could rewatch cutscenes at an inn. I will consider doing that.
Go do something else that you enjoy. It took me over a year to complete 2.0 I didn't do it all in one sitting and found lots of other things to do. If you really wanted to play the game you would just do it. Of course if you do and make it to HW content, guess you'll be disappointed as there are lots more cut scenes to be had.
My experience in the last 3 weeks was very similar to my experience with FF13. Only worse, because FF13 did in fact have more gameplay with the story. Again, this is from the perspective of a returning player with no incentivized content available to play.
Yeah I was complaining about it in other topics. I finally gave up, and this was intended to be my "I'm quitting, SE here is my feedback" post.
Thanks to Gallus, I have some hope that incentivized gameplay may be on the horizon. I'll push through a little longer.
The issue here is that when a new expansion comes out, and you raise the gear level of the story quests for returning players, you destroy any incentive for the gameplay content that ran parallel to that story.Go do something else that you enjoy. Diehard metal gear fan here, but what's with all the stealth?
A few ideas for you:
Crafting and gathering. You might want to consider getting them all to level 50. If you at least gather and sell you shouldn't ever be poor. Being poor sucks. Don't be poor.
You can play mini games in the Gold Saucer: chocobo racing, mini/gaint cactpot, triple triad and the events held there.
Even though it's more story there is the manderville quests, they're there for shits and giggles. There's three manderville trials and they're a lot of fun.
You can do hunts. Unlocking and understanding them will help you once you hit HW content. In order to upgrade ilv170 gear to ilv180 you need seals from hunts.
Edit: Beast tribe quests! You get fancy mounts from them. One mount will be able to fly soon. This one.

Recently returned player.
The incentive is to get to the end of that content and press on forward. People kept on leveling up their relic weapon knowing full well it would be out done by purchase/crafted gear, it was just something to do.
May be if SE decides to have the WoL die in 3.X era.
That way in 4.0, new characters can have a choice to start their story in 2.0 era or 4.0 era so they can start in 4.0 era and have access to all content before 4.0 since players started their new character in 4.0 era.
Of course they will need to make a Legacy version of 4.0 story for Characters that did the story from 2.0 to 3.X
I gotta agree, if you enjoy story, if you are diehard, then the story shouldn't bother you. You just burned yourself out because you are rushing through content. If you take the time to enjoy it it wouldn't be as bad but it's cause you just want to reach Alexander as soon as possible that you've taken the fun out of it.
Coil of Bahamut has it's own side story that's connected so you should try it, it's good to learn about some of those mechanics too. Ask your FC and friends.
You have to do at least once all the dungeons and trials to unlock the Duty Roulettes, that are an importante means to obtain the endgame tomestones, the 2.X story isn't always nice, sometime it feels just like a filler. Skip those useless parts and when you're tired of story go do DR, they are daily.
There are many other funny activities from gathering to minigames with which you can break the story. No need to rush, enjoy what you have.
Anyway the HW story is way better directed, with a nice pace of action-cutscenes.
