Given there's a literally chained up entrance on the Flagship ( x 26 y 22) my guess is that they very much will play a part in a patch.
Hmm. I assumed it was Nidhogg's Eye he was telling them to drink deep from, given that when he first transforms into Thordan he says his "being is sustained by a millennium of fervent prayer and the Eye's nigh bottomless reservoir of aether."
Urianger's text in Gods of Eld isn't explicit, but does suggest that they were tapping into that power, since his defeat had an effect on them: "'Twas first and foremost to acquire the infinite power of the Warring Triad that the archbishop did seek Azys Lla. But in the wake of his defeat, the bindings which confine the eikons were severely damaged."

When he stabs his sword into the ground before the final summoning, he says: "O Ascalon! Drink deep of the power of slumbering gods!" That leaves little room for doubt that he was talking about the warring triad.
Okay, this thought may or may not require its own thread, but are the Allagans and their power sources dealing in multiples of infinity at this point?
Syrcus Tower: "near-limitless," capable of powering the entire world, but not enough to fully open a voidgate.
Dalamud: theoretically enough energy to fully open a voidgate, which means much closer to limitless than Syrcus Tower on its own.
The Warring Triad: infinite. Older than Dalamud, if only by decades, but apparently never used to try and fully open a voidgate. Which in itself is kinda dodgy.
So which infinite power source is the strongest then, and how big a difference is there between "limitless" and "near-limitless"? I know Allagan tech is always painted in hyperbole, but come on! You'd think just one would be enough.
What, this old thing? (Minimap included for reference.)

That's either a later-patch dungeon/trial entrance, or our new Boulder Downs.
