I'd entirely be ok with that. It's nice to see the nod to the other games there from time to time, but I'd rather not see them become major, lasting factors of the story, Warring Triad included.Ramuh appeared briefly in the 2.0 Main Scenario (via the Echo), and the Crystal Tower was there in Mor Dhona from the moment you got there (not to mention the ARR opening FMV), a prominent landmark just on the other side of the map from normal quest progression. That's not really contradicting what you meant to say, though.
And you know I nitpick this a lot (sick of it yet?), but it kinda never did actually do much in the way of anything? Not to be a downer, but even after all the buildup, I kinda do see a very real possibility of us stopping the Triad from ever awakening in a tangential and ephemeral side-story that simply never gets mentioned again.
We can agree to disagree, then. I'd rather not see characters and settings brought in from other games for isolated events that must return to nothingness. Especially as interactions with the "main" cast that never get mentioned again.
Given a choice, I'd prefer more characters like Matoya or Hilda: recognizable names with recognizable common details, but otherwise proper FF14 characters in their own right.
Though they don't appear in the main story, the Extreme primal quests are essentially based around the Triad, and the potential threat they represent.
It's suggested that:
1) they were the real reason that both Thordan VII, along with his Heaven's Ward, and the Garleans went looking for Azys Lla in the first place, and
2) Bismarck and Ravana both have the means, if given the opportunity, to seek out the Triad in Azys Lla as a source of immense power, and that this must be prevented at all costs.
Naturally, this being only the start of the expansion, things are left very open ended, but you can expect them to feature heavily in future patches.
I think that's exactly what we'll be getting here.
They did play a role in the story, you probably weren't paying attention or didn't know what they are called (The Warring Triad).
Both Thordan AND the Empire came to Azys Lla for the single purpose of obtaining their power.

If it follows the logic of crystal tower, then we will fight a Hydrus (forgot the rest of his name) powered by the 3 statues and trying to take over the world, aside from that on the other side of the flagship there is an entrance with a red gate sealed with chains, brings a lot of questions.
The triad do somewhat have a role, during the Singularity Core, it's implied that the king uses their power to summon his knights for Ultimate End, when he tells his sword to "drink" deep.Though they don't appear in the main story, the Extreme primal quests are essentially based around the Triad, and the potential threat they represent.

I am kinda confused. Didn't we go inside/underneath the Warring Triad via Aetherochemical research facility and the Singularity Reactor?
No, you're not confused. The Flagship houses the Aetherochemical Research Facility, which in turn houses the Singularity Reactor. It probably won't ever become a level of its own. Which begs the question: what are we going to do about the Triad?
I kinda don't think we'll be able to fight them in the state they're in now, but simply repairing the seal with a short scene like "wow, that could have been really bad" would be the sort of anticlimax I'd really like to not see become an ongoing trend.

I think that might end up being the case. ___ happens and we do something and beat someone and the triad wont be awakened. Just like CT, they're pretty much a static landmark as far as I'm concerned, but I'm sure we'll learn more about them and who/what they are.
Seems like everyone is after the Triad ... then there's also Omega weapon that's more or less taken a back seat (perhaps it's fueled by it, too?)
I do think that Van Hydrus will end up doing an experiment on himself to try to please the Emperor .... and become dancing mad, lol
Singularity Definitions:
1.a point at which a function takes an infinite value, especially in space-time when matter is infinitely dense, as at the center of a black hole. (Perhaps that's what Lahabrea and Iggy Azeala planned on doing with their form of The Joining?)
2.a hypothetical moment in time when artificial intelligence and other technologies have become so advanced that humanity undergoes a dramatic and irreversible change. (Pretty much Allagan Empire, especially the Azys Lla)

I think we will end fighting the eikons of the warring triad. Remember that there is a concept art of them, so they will have some importance on the future.
