Oh that's interesting. I remember hearing about the part with Cid's memories now that you mention it, but I never knew about the latter one. My poor legacy character hasn't been touched since 2.0's closed beta. While I'm not Legacy, I know of 2 other points where people remember you: When you restore Cid's memories, it goes as far as him even remembering you are the 1.0 Warrior of Light, and when killing Lahabrea/saving Thancred, everyone who helps you with the Sword of Light part also remembers you (complete with Raubahn noticing Cid smirking and saying "Saved the world you know. Twice." Not sure if thats during or after Lahabrea's death though, I assume after.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
We help other people because we are adventurers, not because we are the Warrior of Light. Its expected for adventurers to take requests and help the needy. Even with our fame, I seriously doubt that every single NPC we come across would recognize us as the Warrior of Light. To them, we're just another adventurer. We help people and accept requests for a fair price. I don't think there's any thing to worry over a "Primal of Light".
Louisoix died so we could play Final Fantasy 2.0
Let that sink in for a minute.
We won't be a primal. While it is true that we have helped coountless people so have other adventurers its just that we tend to go the extra mile..When we do pass away (Unless of course we become immortal - remember the full power of the echo can allow us to be one) and the world gets shrouded in darkness they will pray for a savior and hydaelyn will answer by giving the realm a new Warrior of Light...The only time there is fear of us coming back is if Minfilia or anyone who is very close to us witness our death and goes into deep depression and maybe the ascian will be able to corrupt them like they did with Thancred to summon "Us" back (Tiamat to Bahamut for example).
Without spoiling too much...play the 30-50 DRK story. No not every person recognizes us as such, but it does show how much they really do think of us at times (keyword: At times.)We help other people because we are adventurers, not because we are the Warrior of Light.
Yeah, a primal Warrior of Light would be a really, really bad idea, as suggested by
your shadow from 2.x, with Haurchefant and Ysayle's deaths and Estinien being enslaved by Nidhogg on top of it
during the DRK 50 quest. Considering primals are perversions of whatever they're based on with their negative traits turned up to eleven, a primal Warrior of Light would probably just be a crazed lunatic more fit to be a slasher movie villain than a hero.
Then again, if a primal Warrior of Light were created / summoned more like Louisoix's Phoenix transformation (e.g. without Ascian influence), it might not be such a bad thing. Heck, maybe we already are a primal...

Let's get more fundamental here with some Main Scenario L60 spoilers.
Archbishop Thordan VII empowered himself to become a primal by virtue of a millennium of prayer and one powerful source of aether - the 2nd eye.
How do you beat it? Perhaps by utilising the prayers of a continent and one powerful source of aether - Mother Hydaelyn.
I think we're already well down the rabbit hole here, folks.
But for now, we can probably be fortunate that no one is trying to summon us using paragon-taught arts.
But will they...?

For now, I think that we are safe because we are not so well known or revered so fervently. There's still many of the common folk that didn't even know you existed, til you came and helped. Even those minor NPCs that do remember you, only do so as "the adventurer of some note who helped us", not "the savior of mankind".
but if it does come to a point where the people place all their hopes and dreams on our image, I would want to see a route where we ascend to godhood as the 13th member of the pantheon, whose element is Aether

With seeing the Archbishop and his 12 knights + Ysayle, who was also Hydaelyn's chosen, I certainly IS possible for the WoL to become a self-controlled Primal. But that will never happen due to plot.
I'm inclined to say that the WoL is possessed by an echo wielder, but that intro scene we've seen seems to happen to all Echo weilders such as the Waking Sand's Arenvald
It is interesting, we are pretty much Hydaelyn's "sword" to cut down all that oppose Her will.
No it wasn't, there are Legacy cutscenes in Heavensward. One that comes to mind has Count Edmont saying that I defeated TWO Imperial Legatuses (the second one being Nael Van Darnus).
