Will some recipes be made HARDER? [dev1016]

There has a been a lot of discussion about recipes being simplified, streamlined, "dumbed down", or whatever your phrase of choice is. The removal of the long chains of intermediate parts has sparked a fair amount of debate.

However, what about the extremely easy, almost gratuitously easy recipes that are currently in the game?

Let me bring up the most obvious example of this, the [item=6060002]Thousand Needle[/item]. This is a rank 42 item, essentially the "end game" item for weavers, and is painfully easy to make HQ. All it takes is a [item=10006014]cactuar needle[/item], which drops from cactuars as low as rank 20. This is by far the easiest "end game" item in the game right now to make +3. Even the recipe is only a Goldsmith rank 31 synth.

With the HQ system proposed for patch 1.20, this recipe even is more ridiculous, if it isn't changed.

    Steps:
    1) Farm low rank cactuars for HQ cactuar needle
    2) Turn HQ cactuar needle into HQ Thousand Needle with 100% success rate

My hope is that, along with some recipes being made 'easier', that some recipes are made a whole lot 'harder', so that the recipes in general are a lot more uniform in difficulty.

Any chance of a dev giving feedback on this?

if I remember correctly, the goal is to make leveling crafting like leveling a battle class. Not too hard with a steady pace.

The "harder" content is at max level (or near) so I believe there will be meaningful end game content for crafters and gatherers and harder to make/acquire recipes and such.

But a rep/dev could confirm better than me ^^

Sure, I got that from Bayone's translastions of Yoshi-P's posts. And I'm certain that NEW recipes will be scaled up like that. I'm just wondering if some of the existing recipes (like the example one) will be made more difficult at the same time that others are being made easier?

For example, the equivalent Miner tool (R42 [item=7010009]Iron Dolabra[/item]) currently has the following recipe:

Iron Plate + Iron Nails + Wolf Leather + Scale Glue + Iron Pickaxe Head + Ash Pickaxe Shaft + Iron Axe Butt

Yes, that is seven ingredients. And not a single one is a dropped / gathered item. Yes, I fully expect that the Iron Dolabra recipe will be simplified, to something like:

Iron Ingot + Wolf Leather + Iron Ingot + Ash Lumber + Iron Square

However, even this simplified recipe is significantly more challenging to HQ then the current Thousand Needle recipe (both in the current HQ system and in the proposed 1.20+ HQ system).

My question is whether recipes such as the Thousand Needle will be scale UP to be similar to the example simplified Iron Dolabra recipe (which I totally guessed at).

I was thinking the same thing.

Farming low level mobs for HQ items just became a money maker.

Too bad for the newbies that want to grind on them I guess.

    Bouhahahahahahahaha.

yeah I hope they adjust those recipes but worse come to worse, the HQ thousand needle will just not be worth much on the market.

Yup, that requires the Thousand needle as an ingredient + several other mats ^^

dont count on the glue getting removed

glue is a base material just like nuggets and ingots are
