Bard - they broke my job

I've said pages back I'd be all for a support role. I'd trade in my Bow for a Harp and do a song rotation if you can convince Yoshi-P to re-balance everything to require a support. Currently I queue as DPS though.

i agree i would even go as far as saying that the debuff should be removed or at least lowered but bard i considered a support character even if there is no real support role,

That's fine that you consider it a support character, but the DF does not.

i can understand where ur coming from support role would be awesome, even supheal or supdmg as rift does it or just beeing labled as one
and at the end fck it why not do dps as the rest does it idc if they complain afterwards XD

hey len i know this is bard thread and all but how is playing MCH for you does the class feel its somewhat wrong or do u think it only need some minor changes?
just interested if i should lvl one. (i know the problems of the class just wanna hear it from someone with more experience than me)

Minor changes, yes. MCH action rate is very low, and could use some adjustments. Damage is in-line with what can be expected; slightly higher than bard, but their support abilities are weaker. All the complaining I've seen revolves around the fact that people don't want to stand and cast to play the job, which is a somewhat fair argument, but doesn't mean the job is broken. Just that they don't like it. None of this was a secret going in, and the fake shock and appall about it gets a little tiring.

What you don't seem to follow is that while a thing is advertised as blue and works as blue (bard for 2 years), choosing it over red things (like BLM) only to discover it's actually red (as bard is in 3.0) makes the blue thing quite broken. The "brokenness" of it is tiring.

Probably should be said on every page, if people wanted to play a BLM, they'd play a BLM.

You want cast time, play a caster, want a hybrid, play a machinist, it's a new class so it's perfect for new ideas as long as they work properly, which they currently don't.

you like a standing bard? go to wow and play a hunter but then again guess why wow lost so many players again because hunter was the same as bard.

Erm...not. It's not the same. And WoW lost players because they promised a bunch of stuff for their expansion and either cut the stuff they promised or did shady shit with stuff people wanted (see: the flight debacle).

WoW hunters have two advantages BRDs do not. One is that they can move while casting. Two being they have pets to supplement their damage output (but can spec into getting a damage bonus if they have no pet out).

Hunters also have a 1.5 GCD but very few off-GCD skills and are designed around a resource bar that fills and empties quickly, with certain skills increasing resource recovery. Their utility is in the form of party/raid buffs from their pets and traps that deal damage or inhibit enemies in some way.

Not saying BRD should be turned into a hunter, though SE might wanna take notes from how hunters function if they really don't know what they want to do with physical ranged DPS classes.

My thoughts exactly. Seems to me theyll just be making it easier to stance dance in and out of WM. And they dont even plan on increasing damage capacity much. Really hope its just some misinterpeted translation... otherwise its horsehit!

... honestly im really just thinking about switching to BLM. What are the odds that the chosen favorite of our esteemed game producer will ever be a gimped or bottom feeding class? \sigh... another "wait and see" I guess. Not even acknowledging how MCH are pretty much on the same exact boat.

to be honest, the main thing I like about BRD now is that there's actually a sense of decision making depending on when you may have to move, what cooldowns are up, procs, etc. as much as I love the job and I loved my jumping around, the 50 rotation ever since I got there felt very simple and boring at times.

I'd honestly have what is more of a reactionary/planned out rotation than a very cut and dry (more or less this, every job has situational things ofc) "keep up your dots, keep up SS and hit the proc, keep everything else on CD at all times" and that's about all the advice you need to get surprisingly close to the skill cap on pre-3.0 BRD. I highly prefer WM's playstyle because it allows for more profound gaps in player skill, I'd love for a job to have a very easy way to separate who's good, who's decent, and who's clueless. cont--
