Triple Triad Tournament... no longer worth the time

Every week it is available, I participate in the Triple Triad tournament. For various reasons, I usually just stick to the NPCs in the Gold Saucer. I'm not very competitive and don't feel like hunting around for people to play. It was fun playing the NPCs and the rewards were very good. I hit 60 cards by winning platinum packs. I never expected to be in the leaderboards, but 10k MGP and a card or two made the events fun for me.

I know I'm whining, but still, this new payout system seems like it is letting the cheaters who either play alts or pay people to lose on purpose take home the bigger prizes just feels like a slap in the face.

On my server, someone managed to get 17th place with 0 wins and something like 2700 points IIRC. That just looked crazy.

It's totally broken right now, usually I get 20K MGP and 3 platinum cards with NPC's and today I got like 4K and no cards, that's ridiculous.

Its not so much that the wintraders are getting more rewards than the people doing it the "legit" way, but its that they're getting ALL of the rewards and now the people not wintrading are getting pretty much nothing at all. Really shouldn't be like this.

I know for a fact a lot of ppl on the board cheated. so honestly I've pretty well lost all desire to play triple triad or participate in these tournaments.

If this is how things are now, then I might as well stop playing in the tourneys. I still can't get 60 cards and I can't even beat other players, so I just farm NPCs for the card packs and make at least 10K MGP each time.

Well... Guess I won't be playing it anymore. I only played NPCs because I just wanted MGP. It was the only reliable way to get consistently decent MGP without wanting to tear my eyeballs out.

Guess I'll never get my Golden Saucer toys (lolJumboCactpot).

I am in the same boat. I liked what it was before. Same enough incentive to do them with NPCs every week. Now I won't bother.

So, that's what that announcement in the patch notes meant...

The method for calculating Triple Triad tournament points has been adjusted.

While I'll acknowledge that three Platinum Cards seemed a bit generous, 20k MGP per week for participating did not seem outrageous at all. Anyone know if points accumulated against players was similarly nerfed, or if they left that alone as an encouragement to get more players playing against human players instead of NPCs? Assuming honest play, I'm wondering if it's still possible to see good MGP rewards and cards?

Seriously, though, I hope SE understands WHY players gave up on humans and moved to NPCs instead. It's not at all fun participating in a rigged game (unless, possibly, you're the one doing the rigging). As long as human players are able to choose their opponents and communicate with them during the match, players will win-trade. Tournament matches MUST be assigned randomly, and chat between competing players needs to be disabled. That way, the best folks could do is throw their match and HOPE their opponent chooses to tip them.

Me: Well, that match was suspiciously easy...
Other Guy: Hey, I totally jobbed that match for you! Gimme 20k, okay???
Me: Uh... how about 'no'.

SE needs to treat the sickness, NOT the symptoms.
