I'm actually quite curious as to what thay're doing with Tiamat?

Yeah, she's bound for eternity, but is that all? Is it some sick form of Allagan punishment they've inflicted on her for being the one to summon primal bahamut? I would think that they'd place a mind-control device on her.

It appears to just be zealous restraining - she's not only shackled, but gruesomely pinned to the platform. I don't think it was intended as "punishment" so much as yet another example of late-era Allag possessing very little empathy for the treatment of their captives.

But yes, it's quite implied that even for all that, she could break out of those restraints after five thousand years of their decay (and if not, then Middy or her siblings would assist her with it in a twinkling). It began as restraint, but she herself has taken it as punishment.

They probably just sealed her so she isn't a threat. Too smart to be brain jacked.

I think they allude to Tiamat being able to break free. Midgardsormr asks her why she has not forgiven herself yet, possibly implying that she could break free and live a normal life. Tiamat herself does not wish to as she regrets allowing the Allagans to use her sorrow to create a poor reincarnation of her beloved Bahamut. She says that this is her own punishment, and she'll atone here until the world itself ends.

Tiamat doesn't particularly want to be set free, given the dialogue. Her primary regret was consulting with the Ascians, servants of Darkness, of which she and her kin probably knew were bad news; but the death of her mate made her desperate, so she took in their aid and the end consequence was thrusted into Dalamud alongside many of her children.

The Allagans were one thing, but to willingly consult with the Ascians is another, especially given that many of the older dragons seem to have known of them and their general ill intentions throughout time. The Ascians help "bring" back her "mate," but also taught the Allagans how to restrain him.
