Long post.

Best explanation. Having thick skin is probably the best advice I can give anyone. To this day, I have never watched a video, or looked up any information outside of the game for encounters I haven't seen yet. When I come into a boss battle for the first time, I get nothing but groans and bellyaching from people who live on YouTube just to play the game. I can't stand this thinking. Just brush it off, and put your learning cap on.

Actually with exception to raid and trail content they don't often give tanks actual mechanics to deal with in average dungeons. It's one of the problems i have with 'casual' dungeons.

Self confidence is for the unspoken fact that you're being blamed for 75% of any/all problems, even when it's not your fault.

But if you're making mistakes (knowingly or not), then yea, it is your fault. You ARE actually tanking poorly, and not just being perceived as such

I acknowledge everything you said. It's all good advice. I was just adding to the thick skin portion. Whether you are being blamed for things you didn't do, or making mistakes you knew about or not, you should definitely have thick skin. The biggest reason people don't tank is because they are afraid to make mistakes, or get called out constantly for making said mistakes. It isn't just for being blamed for things they didn't do. Improving at something is tough enough already. Then to have people harping on you constantly doesn't help. I'm definitely not saying you shouldn't strive to improve, or take advice from people actually giving worthy advice. But, that's rare. Most of the time you just get jackass comments, and people expecting you to know everything already.
