I see people tend to go with Fractal because it's easier to mindlessly grind. With Netherreap, you have to deal with annoying mechanics. As easy as these mechanics are, it takes away time from doing damage when you are searching for the shadow and killing adds (first boss), moving totems (second boss) or killing adds while dodging tornadoes and the boss being invincible (third boss). The bosses in Fractal have extra mechanics on bosses, sure, but there really isn't a lot of time when the boss is simply 'immune'. Even though there are adds to deal with in all three bosses, you can keep damaging the boss at the same time (this coming from a SMN perspective). Also, the minion from Fractal is far cuter and (usually) worth more money depending on the server. Finally, while there are a few safe spots for big pulls in Neverreap (to avoid tornadoes), you still have to be careful and watch your surroundings. It's not as much of a mindless AoE spam grind. I wouldn't protest to doing either, but if I had to choose a mindless grind, it'd probably be Fractal.
As far as OP's situation, don't forget to do your daily hunts, daily trial, daily high level, daily expert and (possibly) daily low level if you want to. The bonuses are really nice. Also, take up on anyone's offer to run a person through either of these dungeons a first time. You get a 40 law bonus. That's one of the reasons it's sort of advantageous to queue up solo or without a full party... you could 'get lucky' and get a first timer for the bonus. My group always gets super excited when we enter and we notice someone's in a cutscene... haha. As time goes on, the likelihood of getting a newtimer is likely to decrease... so take advantage while you can. Also, that 40 bonus law applies to the 60 storyline dungeon, too (but not the trial).
I'd go with Neverreap. It doesn't help that it seems to be easier to deal with than Fractal Continuum...due to how many times I've wiped in Fractal Continuum due to how much the other DPS always sucks (or the tank). I have several horror stories dealing with that place compared to Neverreap, where I've never seen a wipe on anything but the last boss.
Neverreap seems faster than continuum but it's caster's hell. Continuum is like going for vacations as a ranged dps.
As a tank i prefer neverreap as it's forgiving and the mechanics are just simple. Continuum is challenging to tank and requires cooldowns even for the small group of trash. Solution:
Dungeon: Neverreap
1 pld/war/drk
1 scholar/astrologian
1 monk/dragoon/ninja
1 monk/dragoon/ninja
Start farming!
I'm torn. Neverreap has a very pleasing atmosphere, but as a DRG the boss fights leave me with too much DPS downtime for me to be happy (even if the fight mechanics themselves are pretty great).
Fractal Continuum feels like it's ripped straight out of Star Ocean 3!The music and the first half before you get to the internment hulk-like area is epic. The first boss is like a DPS dummy for melee.
Pretty convinced Fractal is the faster of the two with a skilled party, since there's overall much less downtime on bosses to deal with mechanics and less walls to prevent big trash pulls.
EDIT: Considering Research Facility also gives 80 Law, should we consider that one too? XD

Definitely prefer Fractal. Neverreap attempts at some new and interesting mechanics, and some of them work well (2nd boss was great fun), but then you have others that aren't implemented so well, such as the extremely annoying tornados and water spouts. Additionally, the final boss is absolute hell, and its massive HP meter does not help things.
Fractal's pretty solid all the way through, and has some pretty entertaining boss fights (the first one is especially fun, in a bullet hell sort of way). My only real complaint with it is that there have been some situations with the last boss where certain tile combinations came up that have been entirely impossible to get out of.
Agreed. I feel like both end bosses have a little bit too much HP to be honest - even with two skilled and geared DPSers they take a long time to kill.Definitely prefer Fractal. I'd say Fractal even more so if I'm there to farm tomestones of Law. Sure there is more trash mobs but they also die quicker than in Neverreap plus most of the bosses are more "noob friendly" in Fractal making this dungeon less prone to wipes plus Fractal is one of my two favorites dungeons of Heavensward with The Vault. The only downside of Fractal is that there is nothing to loot there...
Neverreap? Every time i get in there i cry in agony...
Especially the last fight is such a facepunch for a caster i tent to get frustrated and "scathe it 'til its death"
today i did it with i180 weapon, so you do at least enough damage so they get down in a comfortable matter of time, but before, it was just ridicoulous...
Never a mind was changed on an internet board, no matter how good your arguments are...
I feel ya. xD Even as a melee it's frustrating - the Bismarck fight is fine for some reason even though it has similar mechanics, but dodging the whirlwinds AND the boss' rampaging around that tiny platform is a bit tedious when the boss has such a large healthpool.Neverreap?
