My very first ragequit! What was yours?

I have a really long fuse, but when it goes off, that's it! I've been playing since November and I have never quit a dungeon before, and I've played all jobs and roles and had my patience tested at many points.

This is probably pretty silly, but I just did not want to deal with it.

Joined leveling roulette on Monday, my day off, with my AST. My AST is a fresh 50 that I'm trying to catch up to my 52 WHM and 52 SCH, so I'm hardly new to healing though it is an alt-alt job for me. (Main WAR/alt DRG)

Frankly I'd been hoping for a higher level dungeon, but I got Copperbell Mines. Okay, no problem, it's an easy dungeon and I can dps to help make the run faster, right?

We go into the first pull and things are fine. I'm adding dots to all the mobs before I go and heal, then alternating heals and dps. We destroy the first group no problem and move on.

Second group takes longer to get through and I notice that the ACN isn't putting their dots on all the mobs. I am dotting all the mobs, healing, and dpsing, so I figure okay, they're a sprout, maybe they don't know. So we finish that group and I say, You should put your dots on all the mobs so that they die faster.

They sassed back with, I'm busy healing the tank while you let them die.

This takes me aback because the tank was never anywhere near dying; they got about halfway down, which is fine because I can switch to them after a round of dps and Benefic them to full. So I reply, If you want to backseat heal, I can leave.

By this point we've moved into the next group and I'm dpsing and healing again. The ACN retorts, You're backseat gaming me, so.

That was the point I shut down. I offered a tip and he insulted my healing. I healed them through the rest of that pull and calmly went up to duty finder and dropped. He was wrong on three levels (not dotting all mobs; trying to overheal tank; thinking the healer shouldn't dps if they can) and I just did not want to deal with that attitude so I left.

Was it pretty stupid? Probably. I got Thousand Maws on AST later that day with seasoned dps and a new tank - funnily enough there was another ACN but she had the Pure White title. And yet she, too, wasn't dotting all the mobs. I kept my mouth shut, kept everyone alive, dpsed and dotted where I could, and we sailed through just fine.

I am the kind of person who will put up with repeated wipes to get the group through. But that kind of attitude, I just don't get it. There's a big difference between backseat gaming and offering a tip for someone who may not know everything about their job.

New players will take some time until they grasp the mechanics of their jobs. I have noticed that people tend to get defensive if they receive a tip since they think it's a criticism aimed at them because they are bad.

I find it easier to get my advice across especially to new players by adding emotes at the end of the advice to show them that I am trying to help.

As for my first rage quit it should be ages ago that I no longer can remember it

It was several months ago. I was spirit bonding i70 stuff for to get Savage Might IV materia for my Novus. I was playing Healer to get faster queues with gear that would still be useful.
It was late, and going to be my last run of the night. Halatali HM popped. Group was WAR, WHM (me), BRD, and MNK.
Tank decided to try an pull the entire first floor burning his CDs on the run alone.
I opened with Divine Seal and Presence of Mind Cure II, Regen, Cure II, Medica II, Cure II burned the Benediction, Cure II twice more and the tank died, we wiped.
After the Benediction, the tank went from full to 10% in 2 seconds. There was just 0 time for getting Holy off to mitigate damage.
    The tank never used Holmgang.
Comment from the tank "Learn how to heal."

I quit without responding, not worth the effort. Late at night, tank did not pay attention to group make up, wasted his CDs and was a jerk in the chat.

In general I believe that's quite good advice, given tone doesn't come across well in text. With that guy I don't think there would be telling him anything, given he seemed to think he knew how to heal better than me. ;P

I don't have any problems taking constructive criticism myself, I'm happy to learn if I've been doing something wrong so that I can correct it. Got a great tip from an AST myself last week on how to fix my BLM rotation. But that ACN was just flat out wrongheaded.

not technically a RQ but I effectively brain AFK'ed after this so I could save what little was left of my sanity.

I was on Brayflox (normal, lv32) as a monk, and I spent a good 25 minutes trying to teach a lv45 warrior (new player) that they really should use Defiance, because that would help the heal, help them keep hate (lv28 weapon, that was horrible to try NOT to take hate), and on higher level dungeons allow them to fully use their tank kit. 25 minutes of insults, badmouthing and such, while we somehow managed to progress until after the 2nd boss (the big sun drake).

As a main WAR, I just can't stand people who outright refuse to use their toolkit to help themselves and help their group. I stopped caring and just brain AFK'ed 1-2-3 and withstood the neverending flow of insults, kick threats and such.

I think emotes at the end of advice comes across as sarcastic. Maybe that's just me.

OP, you can kick them for not dpsing. Next time just do that.

I don't think I have ever actually rage quit in this game. I have left dungeons with out saying anything before, but usually that will come after a while of trying with no success and no real hope for it OR I misjudged how much time I had before jumping in a dungeon, but neither of these scenarios was I angry enough to qualify them as rage quitting.

I guess I would call it, "disappointment quitting." XD Can't sound any more like a parent there. lol

First time I "Disappointment Quit" was back when I was playing SMN and I was in Haukke Manor. My party just couldn't keep a tank at the time. They just kept leaving. Looking back on it, it may have had something to do with my very noob grasp on SMN at the time. XD After the 3rd tank left, I left as well as we hadn't even beat the 1rst boss yet. lol

I rage quite a trial roulette Ultros recently.

I'm not to fond of that trial anyway so I've run it very few times, that possibly being only the 4th or 5th.

After failing Typhon's instant wipe mechanic the same way three times I flat out said, in quote, "My 30 Minutes are worth more than this" in the party chat before droping.

I hate that trial already so low geared scrubs screwing up their rotations and trying to tell ME how to DPS (im no expert but I'm more than proficent) then that's grounds for "The F*** All Button" in my book.

Last time it happened to me, as a tank seeing that the dps didn't have enough stacks to stop the next move, I jumped in advance to bypass the duty failed. I sure didn't want a forth try...

I don't really rage quit I'm like a cartoon character if things are terrible I just get really depressed and go sit in the corner giving up on life. I remember going back to WoD I was always dead centre because I like the proximity to the MT and others but my group were spread out all over so when raid damage came from people screwing up meteors it was hard to keep them all healed while keeping the MT up because nobody else was doing it and they were not even in my party. Then after a wipe my group started bitching at me in chat that I'm not doing anything and that their BLM had to heal everyone instead of me because apparently stacking around the WHM when huge damage is incoming is too difficult a concept to grasp.

The DF groups I hate the most is when the majority are friends in the queue together or from the same FC because they are so difficult to deal with a lot of the time and really biased. If something isn't going well they like to gang up on people outside their group and when that happens I stop caring. If somebody wants to give me constructive criticism or the Tank wants me to change up my aggressive play style because they are having problems keeping threat and think I'm not healing them enough fine. But don't just blame the outsider for everything while ignoring your own group because you are too busy in a circle jerk to see what's actually gone wrong.
