isnt NIN the top dps now?
isnt NIN the top dps now?
Honest Question...
Is the last 2 abilities for DRG even with it endgame? As in... the level 58 skill just makes the 56 skill needlessly an annoyance in rotations and the 60 skill is an awkward crowd damage skill that reduces my blood of dragon time...
I am very tempted to skip the skills just to keep my skill chains simple and just pop doom spike where I'd use Gier-tab..
By only reading bout dragoon on forums, in certain types of fights with alot of breaks in the fight which makes it impossible to maintain BotD while using the lvl 60 ability I'd say not getting the last 2 skills wouldn't affect you at all, but then in some fights where you could be using that 200 potency attack on the boss (oGCD I believe) would be better to have it. So it's kinda 2 sided. You cold technically be viable without the last 2 skills if you ask me, but I don't have experience on lvl 60 drgHonest Question...

"Sent on Android device"People need to remember that a healer's job isn't to heal HP
but rather to prevent HP from reaching 0
Geirskogul is an additional 14PPS. It is not an annoyance. It's our 2nd strongest oCD now. Our strongest being Jump. Anyone not using Geirskogul in Endgame "because it's an annoyance and hard to use" is missing out on A LOT of DPS and I would consider them a bad Dragoon. As harsh as it is, it's true. There's no excuse not to use Geirskogul in the same way not to use Jump "because animation lock aoe lol".Honest Question...

As for Wheeling Thrust. It's just added complexity for the job for no reason. It's not hard to use, it's actually very easy. Just, it brings nothing new to the table. Again, no excuse not to use it.
I feel like it is a bug that SE just doesn't want to own up to. It's some sloppy coding for sure.
Simple fix: Chaos Thrust triggers Wheeling Thrust. Full Thrust triggers Fang & Claw. Fang & Claw doesn't have a positional requirement. Wheeling Thrust has the same rear-positional requirement as Chaos Thrust.
Problem solved.
dragoon - the only class who a job quest makes worse.

Come on guys, liven up. It's not that bad. Sure you miss a positional or two every now and then, but every class loses DPS to deal with mechanics. Otherwise, every boss would be a dummy, which would be pretty damn boring. I really do not see what is hard or punishing about this. It's already been calculated that BoTD is still a DPS gain even if you miss all the positionals, due to Geirskogul and increased potencies on Jump and Spineshatter Dive. I thought we were supposed to kill Dragons with our weapons, not our whining.
I just hit DRG 58, did the quest, and tested out the new ability... and it also left me thinking "wait a second... did I just get *nerfed* by actually being diligent and doing my job quest, here?" Decided to do a search to see if anyone thought similarly, and here I am.
This is pretty blatant ability bloat that doesn't serve any purpose but towaste a slot on my crossbar and(edit: okay, so you can actually get around this bit by combining both actions into one macro, but still... very icky solution) cause me to have to actually pay attention to which buff I get after Full/Chaos, with zero potential upsides. I concur with the OP here; this is the first (and only?) time in the game where I literally felt punished for unlocking a new ability, which is a big problem. People talk a lot of smack about BRD's Minuet, but at least there they have the option to get it and still just not use it and pretend like it doesn't exist, if they so choose. DRGs are not even given that luxury.
Simple adjustment they could (and probably will) make here: just make it so that Full/Chaos gives us access to both abilities, so we can choose either one. It still makes for a very boring design for our level 58 ability (it still does the same damn thing as Fang and Claw) but at least then it wouldn't outright punish the player via randomness.
Anything other than an almost 100% carbon copy ability that adds RNG to the job for *zero benefit* if you're attentive and a DPS loss if you're not would have been dandy.Seriously, what do people want? Another debuff? DoT? A different potency? Another support ability so that either of the abilities pros 100% of the time so you know where to be?
What's there now just screams lazy design.

Drgs can pretend BotD doesn't exist, just like brds that don't like WM.
You just loose access to your gated abilities.
You aren't being punished by being forced to pay attention to receive your reward. If the two abilities were still 50/50 and one attack was better than the other, people would complain.
The attacks do the same thing, so people complain.
Could have gotten a new utility ability, then other jobs would complain that drg has too much utility.
If you got to choose between the two abilities everytime, people would complain.
I have come to the conclusion that theses forums are full of people that only really complain. It is disheartening.
