We have preferences... you know, like races and classes. But would you go into a dungeon with a full party of white mages, thinking you'd clear it? Macs are not made for gaming. You buy it knowing that. Therefore, if you try to make it work and it fails, don't blame the game.

Unless it's unplayable, like currently. Then you complain. But if you buy a mac for gaming, you are buying the inferior system of the available systems.
This is probably the most ridiculous post in this thread. You claim to like Linux, and then state OSX is for "design and basic function". Are you even aware OSX 10.10 is a fully certified UNIX03 operating system? It literally can do everything a Linux machine can do. Also, the claim that Macs are not made for gaming is equally ridiculous. It's Intel machine with an NVidia graphics card, literally the same hardware in any gaming machine. WoW, Diablo III, Bioshock 2, Guild Wars 2 are AAA games that run just fine on it. The issue here is the port was done poorly. All Square did was contract to Trangaming to wrap the Windows client in Cedega and be done with it.

Another claim I've heard is that OSX is a stranger to SE, which is equally ludicious. They have a significant amount of games and app on the App Store for iOS.

This has nothing to do with OSX, and everything to do with a sloppy job.

Price for an iMac is comparable to a Windows machine with similar hardware.

I think the real problem is just the method they used. Rather than creating a mac client, they used the windows client in a wrapper, and one that isn't working properly at the moment at that. Some macs have excellent hardware for gaming, and Apple is going to make it even better soon with metal in el capitan this fall. The one thing they can't do is convince devs to spend the extra cost for a proper mac client rather than a jury rigged hack of the Windows version at low cost.

I like Linux. I prefer it because I:
    A) Hate Apple as a company
    B) Hate Adobe.
    C) Numerous other reasons that come with working with it professionally as an artist.

Be nice. I Like Linux because I don't deal with stuff I dislike dealing with. And obviously, porting and programming is crap for Mac/ Linux. So you know, there's that.

And if it's so sloppy, there are applications to join Square and fix it. Just saying.

This is true. Programming, cost of porting, etc are really what make the Macs so much more "inferior" to PC for gaming.

I'd love to see spec comparisons. Also, brand for PC, or are you Frankensteining it? I can make a 3k Mac for 1.2k for PC. So you know, there's that too.

    Dell 5K monitor

Dell isn't even known for overpriced stuff; just the opposite in fact. I'm just stating that this monitor alone costs as much, actually $500 more than an all-in-one 5k iMac

If you don't like OSX because of Apple, that's fine. As you said, everyone has their preferences. However, your argument was that Macs are "inferior for gaming", which makes no sense, seeing as how they have the same hardware as a Windows "gaming machine", and there have been quite a few AAA games that have OSX clients that run just fine.

Additionally, the last I checked, Steam built SteamOS from Debian, and the Source 2 engine fully supports Linux and OSX. My stance on this is that client is fairly priced, the iMac and Macbooks are more than up to the task of running a 2 year old game, but Transgaming failed big time. (They also did the GW2 client).
