ERROR 5006 AND 2002 POTENTIAL FIX

I have my FFXIV downloaded to an external SSD, plugged into my htpc the game crashed with a 2002, but when I plugged the same drive on the laptop, the game worked fine, no more 2002, so, somewhere on that machine its catching / corrupting files stored on that pc only, not with the game files.

not really sure how to fix it however.

Inori,

It could be registry settings or stored within the Windows logged in user's data files. Those are the two spots with the highest probability. More likely data files over registry settings.

quite depressing. I'm going to try to log onto a guest account and see if the problem persist over multiple accounts or just single users.

edit: welp, that didnt work


edit2: wow, when i logged back onto my main account in windows, then started up the game it worked after failing on the guest account!


quite an odd miracle!

steps:

-log onto guest account
-log into ffxiv client
-launch ffixv
-log into a secondary datacenter thats not the one you are trying to enter
-watch the cinematic
-press the X
-log into the desired server
-> fail to log in
-start ffxiv launcher again
-try to log into desired server but close the client while it is trying to log in
-log into your main desktop account
-log into ffxiv
-magic !?!?!?

I have read forums and tried every fix on them. NONE OF THEM ARE WORKING ANYMORE! WHY IS SQUARE ENIX NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THERE IS AN ISSUE??? I talked briefly with people in game about 30 min ago during the 3 min I made it in before being dc'd again and they were surprised there was any issue. Some people are having it, some are not but SE doesn't seem to be fixing anything or even acknowledging it because apparently there are more people in game with no issues than those of us locked out in eternal error message land. I am SO ANGRY that I paid 60.00 for an upgrade, took the day off to play and I cant even play. I thought it may be because of Ishgard and I was going to leav that area but our other computer dc'd too and cant get back in and they were not in Ishgard.

well this is the method that I have been using after getting 5006 and 2002's

When I get a 2002:

Log into FFXIV to any other data center
Press the X
try to log into your destination data center, but quickly exit the entire client using the X button in the top right of the window

Relog into the ffxiv client, and select your desitnation server, and it should let you in.

when I try to swap servers without closing the client once, it never works, and i get a 2002, but when i close the client immediately after the first attempt and open it again the second its been working for me so far.

when I get a 5006 I log into a datacenter that I don't own characters on and it usually resolves it, followed by the 2002 quick close method

I can post a video if need be lol.
