From my understanding Balmung and Gilgamesh are the ones with the highest population. What SE should do is put them on separate data centers. How that could be done I don't know but it would probably help a lot.

they could also offer free transfers to the less populated realms as well WOW does this on occasion
And that is why I am stating that this "Potential Fix" is bullshit. The issue occurs ONLY on Aether, and it does because it has the 2 servers with the Highest population in NA, thus reaching the max amount of connections for that datacenter (error 2002 and 5006... btw WHY is SE using the retarded Oracle error scheme of providing meaningles error code? Give us a real error message, not this bullshit generic "Cannot log in" error we keep getting) and for God sakes, make it so that the game does not crash on those 2 errors, it's rather anoying to have to enter my password and the 2factor each time.
Sorry for the late night rant (can't sleep atm) and the high amount of spelling mistakes.

Hello all!
Today was the first day where both of my machines experienced 2002 errors while trying the potential fix with no success. I know some of you believe it is just luck, but I do think 2002 can be mixed with real 2002 errors (unable to make a connection which requires luck to due congestion) and fake 2002 errors (caused by some glitch or caching which are infinite).
The reason I think this is very valid. Many people using the "potential fix" were experiencing the 2002 errors and immediately after trying it it was resolved. It is not luck as the probability is too low that it would immediately fix people's connection. I know the official statement is that is not a software related issue, but I think SE will realize that this is also a bug after the real 2002 connection issues are resolved. We will see, but I am sure many people in this post would agree with my assessment. I do think luck plays a factor when 2002s are a mix.
I feel like I am repeatedly hitting my head against the wall trying to log in. What is most irritating is that someone who is in the same house was able to get logged in fairly quickly at the same time that I was trying. He has been playing for about 30 min now and I'm still getting the 2002 error.

I get the errors trying to connect to Primal as well. DX9, 2002 every time. DX11, instantly connect. I'm not so sure it's the server congestion. I'm on Window8 64 btw.

my advise if your system can run Directx 11 always run that if the program supports it
Ok, I seem to have figured out my issue with the 2002 errors... Been having issue with this for the last few days. I figured out a fix for an 8.1 windows desktop with comcast internet. For those of you who have comcast having these issues I really hope this works for you... Here is what I did.
I logged into my router... If you don't know the address 10.0.0.1 to log in. I will not be giving out the general password for your router. But anyways, once there you will want to go and select...
Firewall - Custom Security - Now you're going to want to block - ICMP - MultiCast - IDENT (Port 113)
As soon as I did this I was able to log into all data centers, I am currently on Aether which has been causing the main issues for a lot of people. I think it had something to do with the P2P applications being blocked. Again, this helped me and I am on a COMCAST internet connection using their wireless gateway.
