I know I want to get my Dark Knight to 50 so I can do the story with that class and get all the quest gear for it.

For level 28ish accessories no less when starting out. It's amazing how much gil people will dump on level 30ish gear. I'd like to focus on leveling and getting through the story myself, but I'm getting so freaking rich off this that I can't help but take advantage of the "OMG! I MUST CLEAR EVERYTHING NOW!" crowd.![]()
Since we're on the topic of price gouging to the extreme;
Why would people do this? You can buy all the gear for a level 30 from various NPCs. If you have the full set from Brayflox, it literally takes a dungeon and a half to get to level 32.
I suppose I shouldn't think on it because it makes my brain hurt.
I reeealllyyyy wanted to level Machinist to 50 last night, but I didn't want to waste my Rested EXP on a level 30 class when i got 10 more levels ahead of me on my lv50s.
You get alot of mileage out of low-level jewelry. The levels between upgrades are mighty large.Since we're on the topic of price gouging to the extreme;

But you can just do dungeon runs for it, and it's not like you explicitly need gear until you're between level 45~50 with level 30 accessories.
Like I said, I'm better off not trying to understand it, it's making my brain hurt even more.
At least a small legitimate part of the reason for buying off the marketboard instead is because NPC merchants don't sell High Quality gear. (From all I've seen so far) And HQ is notably better than Normal Quality gear. Of course, being HQ, it's of course going to be more pricy.
But with the prices they're currently at? Yeah, I'll admit, I try not to think about it too much either, lol. It's probably the hype train.
Another thing is, most of these are lv50 players, and even without crafting jobs or actively seeking money, they're probably sitting on a few hundred thousand gil. Dropping 20k on something isn't really that big a deal. If you have Dungeon/Raid gear, what are you even using it for?
The new armory bonus makes leveling very fast.
You get a whole level every dungeon nearly.
I leveled an alt to 50 doing only the main story, hunting logs, and roulettes with a few fates here and there. I never bought gear or took gear from msq. The only gear I had was from dungeon drops or I bought something stupid cheap on the market boards to spiritbond whether it was class appropriate or not. I made it to 50 pretty painlessly and with 3mil gil. This was months ago too.
