    Maybe I'm just not completely familiar with the specifics, but this just smells like an extension of the cross skills. We currently can only set 10 skills at any one time. From the sounds of it, we can change out specializations. We can only have three set at once. I suppose the questions is do we need more than three specializations, for anything in the game, and how difficult is it to change?

    Not sure where all this hate is coming from towards those, like myself, that have all crafting jobs maxed. I could care less about making gil. I just like to be self sufficient. For example, I am leveling an alt character (because of the crafting specialization limitation) and it was sure nice to have it walk into full meld Kiriumu / Plat gear when she dinged 50.

    Well, omnicrafting means two things: No one has to rely on each other(Bad For Economies) and crafting becomes a matter of leveling all the classes to 50 and using the right skills in order. Everyone crafts the same, which turns a really interesting system with class based skills that could make each craftsman have their own way to do things turn into one where everyone is all the same.

    Omnicrafting being bad for the economy is BS. I spend millions on mats that I don't farm for myself. Seems like the ones complaining are the ones that want to sell me their crafted stuff.

    The economy right now doesn't need any adjustment. The best indicator of this is to watch inflation. Prices charged for stuff are extremely stable.

    As far as "do it their own way" that is not a feature of any job in this game. In crafting, you must have all jobs at 50 in order to get the cross skills. Once you have all jobs at 50, why wouldn't you max them out with tools and gear?

    The biggest concern I have is that new content will not be available except to large FC's that will have all the specialists in their ranks (ie, airships).

    I've never liked omnicrafting from a character flavor standpoint (it bothers me that Alahra is supposed to be a master Alchemist but is pretty much a master everything due to the necessity of level 50 cross-class skills for 4-star crafting). So in that regard I'm glad that having 1-3 crafts as mains will now be viable. How much they limit in terms of what we can actually produce is really up in the air at this point. Personally I hope to see at least some limitations, so that there's more encouragement for crafters to interact with one another, but I'll be happy enough being able to do three specializations (probably ALC, WVR, LTW) and be done with it.

    - Soul of the Crafter
    Players can hold up to three specialized souls. You will need to relinquish one of your three specialized souls if you wish to specialize in a different discipline.
    * Players will receive three souls of the crafter upon unlocking the crafting specialist system, which are required to receive a specialized soul. However, players will be unable to obtain additional souls of the crafter until a future update.
    Does this mean we cant change our specialization? :/

    It likely means that trading Souls will require Red script items and those are being held off until 3.01 or 3.05 with Alexander.
