Reminds me of what happend in WoW, Guildmaster hoard the items and give it only to his friends the officers in the guild. I left the guild after that run and 9 out of the 10 guilds that I joined back then would do the same. Imagine if a rare mount drops, who do you think is going to get it? The guildmaster, his/her friends, the officers or the rest of the group? I guess we all know the answer.

I honestly don't see the point in having a lootmaster. Greed Only option I understand. I guess you could make a case that you could lock a specific drop and then the lootmaster distributes it accordingly. I suspect that if they don't follow through with this agreement, he'll be subject to discipline. Still, it's a lot of trust to place in one person you don't know well.

I don't see how this is a problem. If you don't like a groups loot rules don't join. If you can't find a group with loot rules you like, make your own.
Loot Master is a great tool for statics.

Then you don't join the group. That is only for preformed groups--as in someone directly invites you or you join a Party Finder group. If it is open Duty Finder taking in randoms, it defaults to normal need/greed/pass format.

I imagine you can report any issue where an agreed upon event was clearly disregarded- at least from what they've said about the Casino(s) makes me believe this.
They've said they're ok if they don't spam and follow their own rules (don't scam). So if there was some verbal agreement with the use of lootmaster, then under similar thought I imagine you could report someone for abusing lootmaster.
I don't love RNGeus but I'd take a need/greed party over an unknown lootmaster party any day, I specially dislike lootmaster parties when you are the black sheep of a group of clearly friends/same FC. "3.0 Pony farm" - find out it is lootmaster, just leave lol.

If the loot master states the ruleset clearly to everyone and then ninja's loot, he can be punished.
They won't enforce anything if it's some messy dispute but if he bypasses the agreement at the start, they will.
You can even punish people who need in Greed parties right now. Similarly, this works on the party's self imposed agreement.
But if someone tries to cheat the rest, they can still be punished (up to being permabanned).
If you're that bothered, just report them.
This isn't WoW. And even WoW now punishes people very seriously for abusing loot master.
A lot of people keep responding with, "If you don't like the loot rules, don't join the group." That's not really a rational response. It can and will be abused. There are a lot of statics that are a man or two short and use the DF to fill out. Many of them will abuse the mechanic so the DF players don't get anything.
There are a lot of PF groups that are mostly guildmates or friends and they'll abuse the mechanic to prevent randoms from getting stuff.
It's easy to say, "just don't join those groups", but the problem is that they will be the norm, not the exception. Humans are inherently greedy and selfish, and that shows even more prominently in online games.
The benefits of lootmaster don't really outweigh the negatives.

"abuse" is a dogwhistle for people who don't agree to loot rules and want to retain the option to undermine them.

I doubt loot master will be the norm PF pug setup, but if it is then make your own group.
As for statics they will probably be set to loot master with a pug. Because from my experience random pugs that fill static groups tend to ninja loot even after agreeing to the rules. Many times when one of my static members couldn't make it, and all our normal fillers were busy, we didn't raid. It'll much safer for us to fill with a pug now. And I don't think most statics will screw over pugs. My static members honor their word, because they don't want to get booted from the group. I'll hazard a guess that most statics are like mine in that regard. When my static raids (without a pug) loot master will simply prevent mistake rolls.
tl;dr I personally don't think the negative will outweigh the positive; but then again I have never been the doom and gloom type.
