i90 and i100 to do BASIC (lvl 50 to 52?) HW content and ARR's story. i130 confirmed to be good until LVL 55. and i170 is the BASE form of the FIRST NEW TOMESTONE, meaning basic end game's average will be around i160.

so if your using AF1 (as in lvl 50 job quests) your going to need a LOT of new gear to hit i90 for ARR's basic content.
once you hit i90 Farm for poetics. to get i120 pieces. (since there is only one week i highly reccomnd you take this time to farm soldiery instead since it is quicker that will get you i 100 pieces.)

Farm CT ST and WOD for i80 i90 and i100 gear respectively.

If tome gear is 170, then i'm sure ilv130 will be fine until 60. it's not like you need ilv 130 to do FCoB, even though 130 stuff drop there. and i'm quite sure lv55-59 content won't have ilv 130+ min-lv-req...

no yoshi-p has stated that i130 'may' keep you until LVL 55. and they showed the mobs being far more stronger then ARR making HW far more dangerous.
and i170 was for tombstone of law (which can be upgraded (which a game reviewer was told during the french media tour)), thats not even the AF 2 nor do we know the level of alex normal (which is after law) tome of esoterics or alex savage (which some predict to be i240)

so all people with final coil will have is a SLIGHT easier time levelling in HW, until the gear is useless for them :/ also there is meant to be more focus on gear ilvl progression in HW so don't be shocked if i150-i160 is the level for lvl 60 end game dungeons. (excluding alex normal)

ya i'm sure that lv 60 content will have high ilv reqs, but i meant just the stuff pre-60. If lv 59 dungeon has ilv 130 req, it's already 20lv above FCoB.
ppl cleared FCoB in mostly 110 stuff (and even some crafted ilv90 vit accessories)
so we can do stuff that give ilv 150 gear, in our current ilv130 stuff.
although it will be challenging, i still think our current ilv130 gear will be enough to get to 60. ofc you may end up getting upgrades on the way, anyway, but i don't think ppl with ilv130 gonna hit a roadblock by 55, having to farm 52-55 dungeons, for ilv150 gear, to get to lv60.

It likely won't make much difference at all what gear you have.
The first stuff you can buy in ishgard and the first 51+ things crafters can make will likely be an item level of 110 or more so flooded AH day one most likely

and while leveling not having the top of the line gear is pretty much no hindrance at all.

In other words unless you participate in end-game when it is fresh, don't sweat it.

They have announced that current best gear will be good until at least level 55 (so ilvl 130) and the end game tome gear for 3.0 is ilvl170
