Well with the DRG AF armour, it's not really practical. Aside from the obvious "stab here" target, it would also (in a realistic sense) prevent female characters from being able to twist or bend their bodies. Imagine having the pointy parts of the midriff stabbing into or scraping against their chest if they decided to enter combat. The monsters could sit back and watch the DRG kill themselves from blood loss.

Yeah...because we all know that armor designs in FFXIV are super practical with that on exception.....yeah....right....

Indeed, but I would also contend that female characters can look powerful and feminine, without pulling out 'sexy' as a trump card. Folks one reality you have to accept, and this is baked into the gender differences in FFXIV, males tend towards raw strength, and might for their power, while females tend towards less physical traits - their physique illustrates this. Historically females have also made use of their most obvious physical advantage over males, their allure. Armor designs should reflect these things even for DoW classes - imho.

This is a final fantasy, I think we're lucky the female armor is (mostly) practical and fairly conservative.

Final Fantasy games with a Job system (that changes appearance) tend to shy away from any forms of fan service. Take a look at FFIII, FFV, FFXI and FFT Job gear (especially the ones that are usually tanks or usually wear heavy armour).

I'm one of those, I want to look powerful and fierce, not sexy.

Who really cares, no one is gonna be wearing the AF armor. I suppose you could glamor it but I guarantee most people will not. Sure, it might be a big deal for those few who will glamor the AF into everything but certainly not worth this level of discussion.

However getting back to the topic. Dark Knight JSE will be modified for female characters due to women having a different anatomy compared to men.

See the difference between male and female Dark Knight attire?

It's not a matter of saying "Make the girl's version of the coliseum set like actual armor!" it's "Hey this armor looks like it has a horrid gaping weakspot that's asking for dragons to gnaw there, why don't the guys have it if the girl's do?"

Like I said in another threat, please make the DRG AF look like the guys, give everyone access to the silly (And dumb IMHO) open belly "Sexy" option, so that they can nab it if they want, but do not make the default for armor "Sexy".

Honestly, I wish the girl PCs in the game had more options to look tough and powerful, currently we've got Roegadyn ladies as an option but they're still no were near as tough and powerful looking as the guys of the race. I was really hoping Xaela Au Ra women would look powerful and stocky for once while the guys would look as waifish as the Auri girls do, but that didn't happen.
But to the topic itself, armor isn't suppose to look "sexy and feminine", it should exist to be protective of the body. I would prefer SE save midriffs and boob windows for silly glamours. Now, if the armor for the men and women PCs are both equally revealing, I suppose I don't see an issue to that, girls look ridiculous, guys look ridiculous, everyone wins.
