Trying to look good doesn't mean you want to look sexy, my point was that no, to me women clothing rarely ever scream sexy and appealing. Shirts and jeans, everyone can wear that, it's only by the cut of the clothing that you can notice for which gender it is. But in this game SE has made it so that for a majority of the gear the male and female version would look the same.

you lost me at hating Godbert, infidel! he's super manly and awesome!
Never said I hated him, he just is one of the best example that you can look 'fun'/'stupid' in anything no matter what you wear or don't wear. I could have also name that male Roe NPC from the Titan quest that look absolutely ridiculous, or many of the males NPC having feminine gear/personality just to make it 'fun'.
Wearing a dress/skirt even if most people would find it stupid wouldn't change anything from the game since it's already possible to do that.

ofc they loose money on it, if they make stuff no one uses. they could have spent the time and money on something that ppl DO use. it's wasted time/money/effort to do stuff that ppl dont use.
it's like running a magazine that no one buys...then you go bankrupt.
But you're right, this thread has got quite some support, so we'll see. but there was lots of ppl that were grass! \o/ and nothing has happened. and body hair options.
They don't lose money on gear that we don't have to pay to get, otherwise it would have to be in cashshop.
And unlike the body hair option, SE releases new glamour gear pretty often, adding one more that people have been asking for for months now wouldn't give them much more work and wouldn't use heavy data. If they keep doing it for female they should be more than able to do the same for male gear.

A slightly modified top with some loose trousers added beneath would be nice nice. Of course, then I'd want that slightly less feminine version of the dress on my female character too... >.>

While I understand why people want all the gear to be unisex, I have to disagree with this one. I'm not against men wearing dresses, everyone are free to do what they want, but the reason why I don't want male characters be able to wear this specific gear is that it's designed to look very feminine, at least it looks that way in my eyes. Male characters being able to wear the new dress would be the same as if they would be able to wear spring dresses. It doesn't fit the world of FFXIV. If they make the dress less feminine, I won't have anything against it. Let the male chars have their dresses, but not looking exactly same as it's now.

Redesigning the gear to fit male bodies takes time, money and resources. It's not a freebie. The point he was making is that if only a handful of people actually end up wearing it, then that development time is essentially wasted on content no one really cares about.

Honestly, I think it's admirable that people defend their right to equality. What I don't agree with is how people are attacking others for their own opinions by arguing that they're somehow sexist or anti-equality. I personally don't think most feminine outfits look good on men. That's a personal preference, and there are plenty of masculine outfits I would never want to see on women either. Does that make me sexist? Possibly, but the more we try and blur the line between men and women the less distinct they become. What people miss is that it's the differences between us that make it appealing in the first place.

I agree there needs to be more unique clothing for men, as it's very weighted towards the ladies. I would happily welcome more choices being added for guys to enjoy, if only to see some more handsome chaps roaming around. But sticking guys in blatantly female clothing for the sake of it would be a bit too much. The people who generally wear outfits like that do so to make a statement more than they do to look good, and I think that statement has already been heard loud and clear across the globe.

What are you calling a handful because I see hundreds of males in revealing/feminine clothes in a day in Mor Dhona on a single server. Like I said, these things can be worn on a piece by piece basis. Can you imagine that skirt under some of the long jackets? That top with some of the stuff for jobs like ninja? The headpiece would look so good with everything and the criss-cross sandals are also very generally appealing for glamour.

Thank you, Nephera. ^_^ I'm going to attempt to do a version of the top that has no cloth per a suggestion in the JP thread next.
