I just hate tanks that don't switch there stances in the middle of fights. Like for instance I don't sit in defiance while OT. I know when adds come out and switch to it then to pick them up. I consider tanks that don't do that mediocre. For some reason since I have started tanking a few months ago I find this a pet peeve of mine. For some dumb reason it bugs the crap out of me.

Nah. It's better for a Tank to be in their Tank Stance when they don't need to be than it is for them to not be in their Tank Stance when they do need it.

Every run I dont tank, I just see tanks spinning the boss and doing foolish things. So when I am tanking, and no one speak up for MT, I find it's best to just take the reigns and do it. At the very least they wont be taking hate from me and spinning the boss. Nowadays I try to pick up as many mobs as I can as well, just because you can't trust the others to do it.

Tbh, most in there seem like fate leveled tanks with no idea about the actuall role, other than banging on the boss.

Yeah. Stance dancing is another very important skill for a tank. As is knowing when you need your vit accs, and when str would suit you better. As an example, if you're off tanking, str is almost always the answer. If you're not tanking, you should be focusing on how you can optimize your dps instead. Tanks -can- put out some very respectable dps in the right hands.

Content too hard? Too much rng? Too much effort for the item you want?

Except that outside of Coil there are very rarely instances where a tank really needs to be in their tank stance.

As someone who's been in all the Crystal Tower raids more times over than I care to count, I have seen sooooo many of these said aggro wars, and have even had some DPS along side the other Tanks be jerks about it and do everything possible to take aggro from me if I ever step up as MT.

I've always preferred going OT since then. I mean, if the other Tanks can't be bothered to deal with the adds, then imma only trust myself on that and go around picking up the adds. Doesn't matter if I'm a PLD or a WAR, I'm getting them adds.

    EDIT:

I feel ya on that. Once I get around to leveling DRK, I'll be expecting people to instantly leave duties and what not just because they happen to see me as a DRK. Won't even get a chance to show that I've tanked a lot already via PLD and WAR. (PLD being my main preferred Tank class, even though WAR is fun too)

Its a roulette if anything. I always check the gear of the other two tanks before the first pull and look and see what they do, especially if I'm lesser geared than they are. Sometimes the two highest geared fight over aggro, or as happened to me one time in WoD, I was MTing at i96 as the two i120+ paladins decided they didn't want to tank at all. Double Sword Oath and everything. Bear in mind WoD is tuned for i90. You never know what you're going to get. If there is a fight for aggro, I usually step back. Its really not worth fighting over unless the other tank is just that bad.

If you think this, you are not a Tank. Period.

It is better, but that doesn't necessarily mean the tank that does that is mediocre. They don't understand that if you're not tanking something, you don't need to be in the stance that generates more aggro and reduces the damage you take - that's a bad thing. For PLD it's a bit more forgivable, because it takes a GCD to switch stances which usually means you have to know when the add is coming (OTing T7 comes to mind). If you've never done the dungeon before and you're a PLD sitting in Shield Oath, then I guess that's understandable. But WAR really has no excuse.
