Early on in XI you were able to be hit on chocobo. Was mostly running past mobs as they aoe'd though or a mob engaged to your party.

You can use our stables for 500g
you can borrow one of our rental chocobo for 150g
Sorry they come in the default color of yellow (It takes too long to breed other colors yo)
Oh and if you want to call them, take this whistle (did I mention it costs 10k to get another and 1000 for refills?yeeeaaaa)
Oh and when you're traveling they have a time limit, you can't run them forever, they're animals y'know!
Don't forget to feed them every (insert hours here) they get hungry
Dress them!? HA! you can't do that until the next update!
