It generally applies to entries that use the job system (III, V, XI, X-2, XIV, Tactics, Bravely Default) allright that really IS the minority.
FFVI is my fav, followed by VII.
I've tried VIII but I just can't like Squall, which is a shame because the whole game seems really good.....(also I love the music in it). The only other ones I haven't played is X (going to start it soon), I, II, and V...oh and XI. I really want to play V soon though.
BUT YEAH VI forever.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.

8 and 9 are tied for me. I loved 8s world and the amazing junction system and love 9s characters, story, and world. One thing no one can really argue against is that each game has an incredible soundtrack.
You might be surprised about the end result. I am a VII fan myself. Due to the fun party members, the diverse gameplay and one winged angel, but I like Squall more than Cloud, prefer the battle themes of 6 and 9 over 7 and I don't like that it doesn't have gilgamesh.FFVI is my fav, followed by VII.

This. And furthermore why bother to include non final fantasy games and then lump them together for things like game play (looking specifically at Kingdom Hearts). I can see the point of lumping stories of continuous games but not gameplay when it changes. If you can't be bothered to separate the KH series by gameplay, then just remove it from the poll since it wasn't an FF game anyway. Also, if you're including non numbered titles, then why both pick an choose? Either add them all or add none. There's a lot of bias in the poll.
You kind of forgot the game that it has the largest gameplay effect... (LR) Seeing as you didn't specify that it wasn't an exhaustive list (i.e. using e.g.).
Yeah, I figure I'll end up liking Squall, or at least not find him punchable...but it's so hard... I'm not sure, I really liked Cloud in the end and it baffles me that people complain about him being so depressing and "emo" (did they...play the game??). But anyway. I'm planning on playing all FF, so I'm probably going to give VIII another go after X.
And, There's a soundtrack question. That isn't fair, I can't choose I love all of them.

Mmm as a suggestion, for the "main character" and "villain" questions, you may want to look up who is actually the protagonist, and who is the main antagonist.
For example, where is Vayne? Remember, in Dissidia they chose Chaos' side more on how they relate to who they chose for Cosmos' side, NOT who was actually the main villain..
